1;25 am Check the DVR back to Bev's post and didn't see any further nest exchanges. Res continues to protect the eggs from the cold and rain getting up only long enough to roll the eggs and shake off some of the water. She is soaking wet!

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for the updates, Bev and gemini!

8:33 am
Res is still here - here are a couple of close-ups I got when I zoomed in to confirm that. The first is direct from the camera, and does seem clearer than what we can get from the embedded cam at the moment. The second one is at the 480 px setting that my computer usually chooses, and the third as at 720 px, which should be sharper.

While I was logged in the cam, Res flew off at 8:36 am, and I went to a wide view to see where Sur came from. Unfortunately, most of his flight path was hidden by the tree, but he came slightly from the left, possibly from a perch more visible with the North cam.
20200328_017.jpg

And since I was there, here's a close-up of his eye.
20200328_016.jpg

It's also taken direct from the cam using the zoomer link. It's still windy enough that the nest appears to be moving quite a bit when you watch from the South cam - and it is moving some, but part of the motion is in the tree where the South cam is - if the two trees could coordinate their movement, it would look a lot smoother! :)

Happy to see the sun out here - and glad that Res has some time off to dry off her feathers.

Not sure who is on the nest - but they are not happy!
20200328_020.jpg

I'm pretty sure this is Res, and the eggs were alone around 2:10 so that might be when she arrived.

I was thinking Sur had a fairly long shift today - which is fair because Res was there most of the day yesterday to keep the eggs dry. Looking at your pictures of Sur, gemini, it looks as if I can also see some of the dark splotches on the upper tail - though Res also has a bit of that.

And I was going to do an update when the adult on the nest called and took off. I logged into South to try to see what was going on - and didn't see anything, but did get a look at Sur when he got back around 2:38 pm.

Now to see if I can look back....

Trying again to check the dvr....

1:57 pm
Definitely Sur on the nest; he gets up for a big stretch, moves around the nest, and is back incubating less than a minute later.
20200328_024.jpg

At 2:06 pm he got up, moved to the front of the nest (South cam view) and then flew off.
20200328_025.jpg

Eggs were alone until 2:12 pm when someone arrived; I think it's Res.
20200328_026.jpg

This looks more like her eye - and I did see a bit of a cowlick, and hadn't been seeing one on Sur (occasionally he has a feather stick up - hers is usually there, unless she's wet or has just had a big shake, though it's not visible from all angles).

Continuing from the dvr....

At 2:35 pm, Res did some calling and flew off at 2:36 pm - and then Sur showed up - I was panning around trying to see what was happening and saw a flash of white headed toward the nest:
20200328_027.jpg

And then I got the closeups of Sur that I posted earlier, when he came to the nest at 2:37 pm.

3:19 pm
Still Sur.
20200328_028.jpg

It's now 3:24 pm, and not obvious who's on the nest from the North cam
20200328_029.jpg

But the South cam shows it's still Sur (as well as the fact I've been watching since 3:19).

Busy afternoon here!

Res arrived less than a minute later and settled in.

It's now 4:14 pm.

4:00 am Checking back on the DVR Sur comes in to relieve Res at 5:58 pm

:vid: COTG - Sur in for Res (1:10)

Here's where it gets tricky - it is definitely Sur who leaves at 6:44 pm but I'm not 100% sure it is Res that comes back - if it is, she had a short break.

:vid: Res? takes over! (1:10)

I couldn't find anymore exchanges so I think it must be Res that came in!

4:26 pm Res tucked and sound asleep

Good morning, everyone!

Checking the dvr....

Res was up and off and 7:18, and Sur arrived at 7:19 am.
20200330_002.jpg

The feed from the South cam is very choppy because of the wind - I logged into the cam itself to make sure it's still Sur, and the cam's skipping - but I did confirm that Sur is on the nest.
20200330_004.jpg

The wind is making his head fluffier than usual, so looking more like Res's.

I was just walking by the computer and saw Res arrive to take over from Sur; Res is on the right, watching as Sur gets up from the eggs.
20200330_005.jpg

I'll try to look back in a while to see if there were other switches before this.

Res is still on the nest - definitely very windy!

I checked the dvr, and didn't see any switches in the last couple of hours, though I did get a nice look at Mom Res's upper tail - not the big black spots Sur has, but a bit of black at the top:
20200330_009.jpg

And as I was typing, Res got up, stretched, and flew off at 1:42 pm.
20200330_010.jpg

And Sur arrived less than a minute later.

2:16 pm Sur still on the nest - the wind appears to be picking up! Hope the cams don't start with the spinning circle again!

Went back and checked the DVR previous to 11:38 am for you JudyB, and Sur and Res were very busy this morning! There was one break and two switches - at 8:56, 9:35, and 10:31 am. Videos coming

9:35 am

Thanks so much for going back and getting those videos, gemini!

3:56 pm
Sur is still on duty. His head feathers are so fluffed up by the wind that I had to zoom in to confirm his identity - and even that's blurry with the wind.
20200330_023.jpg

I'm glad his eye is looking better - but it does make it trickier to get a quick ID!

2:10 am Checking back on the DVR -

4:15 pm
:vid: Res takes over incubation duties (:52)

About 6:42 pm Res started calling out - don't know if she was calling for Sur or if something was bothering her. She called out again at 6:43 pm, and abruptly left. Sur didn't come to the nest for about 4 minutes after that.

:vid: Res leaves rather quickly (1:20)

7:53 pm Res in for the night shift
