Great closeups, gemini - and I'm hoping so as well, Beth. So far I haven't seen the suspicious spot again, which is a good sign, I think.

I was away from the computer for a few minutes and missed a switch from Res to Sur at 1:53 pm.

Here is Sur arriving with some nest material.

And this is the best I could get from the dvr of the eggs.

Res flew off after they both stood together for a moment.

Sur was up to turn the eggs; definitely some bits of nest material stuck here and there, but again I didn't see anything that looked like a crack or a hole.

Sur didn't want to give me a closeup of his eye - maybe he's a bit shy. :)

If you ever wanted a nice close look at the back of an eagle, Sur is providing that! The cam is even focused nicely.

These were taken full screen and as close to HD as I can do.

Sur left at 3:25 pm; it's now 3:39 and Res is back! Thank you, Sur and Res, for giving us a good look at the eggs.

I've put the North cam back in the usual position, and am off the cam.

Sorry, Beth - the north cam is very blurry, but I didn't want to reboot it in case anyone wanted to check the dvr first. It's getting late in Maine, so I'll do the reboot now, and hopefully that will get rid of the blurry images on North.

Good night, everyone! :offtobed:

As an aside, I don't expect her to lay a third egg, but she's a strong eagle and there seems to be lots of food here, so it's not out of the question - and if it's going to happen, it will likely happen tonight.

6:13 pm Sur flies into the nest and heads towards the left over rabbit. But before he can get it, Mom jumps up and lets him know that, no, this is hers! Sur, with a longing look at the rabbit, slowly moves over to the nest bowl, to take over incubation duties, acknowledging that, yes, the rabbit was hers! Sometime later, Mom has had her fill and moves away from what's left of the rabbit and Sur moves in. He finishes up what's left, looks around for a minute then leaves with Mom settled in over the eggs.

:vid: Mom says no that's my dinner!

7:37 pm finds Res still looking after the eggs. She has been up a couple of times to roll them and all is well. She is still awake and looking around at this point.

9:17 pm Checked back on the DVR and nothing new. Mom is quietly incubating, getting up every once in awhile to roll the eggs. The wind is starting to pick up in advance of another large Pacific storm heading our way tomorrow.

10:07 pm Res hunkering down in the tuck position now, protecting her eggs from the increasing winds.

2:01 am Looking back on the DVR nothing has changed since my last observation.

Good morning, everyone!

I like how well Res and Sur work together (at least most of the time!) - thanks for the video, gemini.

Looks like more wind and rain on the way - at least eggs are easier to protect from the weather than little chicks - and thanks for posting the weather, Bev.

7:08 am
I did a quick check of the dvr, and Res left at 6:24 am (still only 2 eggs, which is what I expected based on last year, but one year of records isn't really a pattern). The eggs were alone for about 2 minutes, and then Sur arrived at 6:32 and took over incubation.

It's now 7:15, and Sur is continuing to incubate the eggs.

Morning everyone. Thank you, Judy, for the explanation I really thought I was losing it. When I looked it looked like al there were was white feathers and I thought OMG one of the Eagles has been attacked. I went back and looked again and all was well.. That was quite a scare for sure.
All is well this morning and they are sitting nicely on the eggs.
Thanks for all the scaps and video's, its lovely to watch.
Have a good day. :bye 1:

I came back to the computer to find the eggs alone, so tried zooming in. The two egg pictures will go to full screen if you click twice. And I apologize for the pointing cursor in the second picture - not sure how I did that, but it's not intentional.

Sur returned before I could get a closer look at the top egg - but I didn't see anything unusual.

I returned the cam to the view of the whole nest and logged out as soon as Sur arrived; here he is showing off the bark spots on his upper tail as he settles in.

Looking at the pictures, I think that I'm again seeing the marking I thought might be a hole - and it's now looking a lot more like a stain or dirt; it's a gray blotch in the upper right of the enlarged egg, looking sort of like a silhouette of a hummingbird now.
