Good afternoon, everyone!

12:10 pm

When I brought up the North cam a few minutes ago, I noticed that even though it's four months before we're likely to see eggs here, there appears to be a nicely formed nest cup.
20191101_003.jpg

I know the nest cup is often more visible when the sun is at certain angles, but hadn't remembered seeing anything even close, so I went back a bit on the dvr - this is about 90 minutes earlier.

And not surprisingly, a few moments later, an eagle arrived - I think Res; this is from 10:37 am.

Continuing from the dvr....

She did a bit of digging (and some standing around - Sur's not the only one who does that, though he may be the expert), then flew off at 10:49 am.

At 10:53, Sur arrived with a food item.

Res (on left, cowlick visible) arrived to claim it a moment later.

While she was eating, Sur did a bit of work on the nest, then kept watch for a while.

Continuing....

Around 10:57, Sur disappeared behind the trunk on the right and flew off; Res continued eating.

She finished around 11:26 am.

And we have company arriving - bye!

1:32 pm Here is a short video of the morning visits that Judy just posted. Of the total 50 minutes recorded only about 3 minutes were worth keeping! An awful lot of standing around and looking by both and a long eating session by Res edited out!

Can anyone identify the food item? It looked furry to me!

:vid: Morning visit from Res and Sur

4:45 pm Just checked and there have been no further visits since this morning's.

I just looked back and didn't see any visits in the hour since you checked, gemini.

North cam was sputtering, so I did a reboot.

And now it's time for me to say goodnight. :offtobed:

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for the video, Bill, and for the morning report and weather forecast, Bev!

North cam was a spinning circle when I looked in at 8 am. I've done a reboot, and it took a few times refreshing the page for me to get the cam - so we'll have to see.

I looked back a couple of hours on the South cam dvr and didn't see any early morning visits.

11:03 am A couple of short but busy visits by both a 10:18 am. First Res came in with a stick then Sur with a large wad of grass. They worked on the nest for a few minutes then Sur left followed by Res shortly after a few minutes of looking around. At 10:25 am Res came back with another stick, placed it where she wanted it and then tried out the nest bowl. Sur then arrived with another stick as well. He found a spot for his stick - which Res promptly moved - and left after a bit of s/l (standing and looking). Res hung around to pick at the sticks and poke in the bowl while s/l for another 3 minutes and left at 10:30.

:vid: First visit by Res and Sur (3:32)

Had a problem with YouTube uploading the second video - finally got it to work!

I'm having the same lack of streaming issues with both cameras this morning as well. The south cam had been functioning properly until just within the last hour.

I wonder what the issue is exactly? Are one or both cameras powered by solar only?

I don't think that the power source is the problem. The "helpers", mods, administrators talk about resetting the cam. And that doesn't always work. You've been around enough cams to know that sometimes you just gotta' pull the plug and then plug it back in. ;)

Good morning, everyone - and welcome, Robert!

As Bill said, we really don't know why the cameras sometimes have issues. The signals are sent from the cameras to a computer managed by our tech person Ken, where the Wowza software converts the signal to a different format and sends it to YouTube, and we embed the YouTube feed on our live cam page https://hancockwildlife.org/surrey-reserve-cams/.

Sometimes rebooting the cam remotely (which I can do as an admin) gets the process started again; other times we need Ken to reboot what we call the Wowza server.

I've just rebooted both cams; South is now streaming for me (after reloading the live cams page several times), and I'm hoping North will be back in a minute or two.

And North came back up on the next refresh of the page.

I do have a request - if one or both cams are down, and don't come back when you refresh/reload the browser window, please post in our "Report Cams Down" thread - viewtopic.php?f=66&t=33&start=1350. The other admins and I will generally see messages there faster than we'll see discussion here, and will be able to check the cams and notify Ken if the problem is beyond our limited set of tools. Thanks!

1:22 pm Checked the DVR back to the beginning and didn't see any visits.

North Cam was stuttering and pixelating - gave it a reboot in case we get some visitors - Okay now, we'll see how long it lasts!
