Good Afternoon everyone and welcome back Judy  and you are welcome .. .. I was so tired last night I forgot to mention that it was gemini that first saw what looked like Sur on the nest

Thanks, Bev - I missed that. And thanks for the video, gemini - would have helped if he moved around a bit more, but the right eye especially seemed to have the lack of feathers underneath, and both of them seemed to have a bit of a hooded appearance as if the eyebrow area sticks out a bit (not that eagles have eyebrows, but there are a lot of technical terms I don't know).

And the male this morning definitely looked like Sur to me, though I didn't see all the indicators.

I'm still not sure about the female - but it is still early. And it's been windy!

And I agree that there seem to be some splotches on the cams - and am hoping that it's things that will wash off in the next rain.

5:00 pm Just checked the DVR and didn't see any new visits.

Working on a video of the dual eagle visit yesterday. I recorded the whole visit which was mostly standing around. This alone makes me think it is likely Res and Sur - it seems to be their favourite pass time! Cutting out most of it. If it proves to be them, it's back to the drawing board as far as ID traits are concerned!

Looks like Sur's eye
20190930_005.jpg

And I managed to crash the embedded cam - sorry. :oops2:

I wasn't able to get a screenshot, but did not see the little black spot on Sur's tail.

This was the side and tail of the female - and I'm not seeing white stripes. I am wondering if the feathers that had the white were older feathers that have molted. Not sure how that happens exactly, but I seem to remember that matching feathers on each side molt at the same time so the eagle remains balanced in flight, so maybe it's possible.

And they flew off while I was rebooting the cam. Guess it's useful knowing that the cams work better when no one is zooming - but that will make it harder for us to look at things like eyes.

And - no eagles, but I'm again reminded how beautiful the view is here.

And it's late, so I'll say goodnight. :offtobed:

Yesterday's dual eagle visit! It was a long visit (almost 30 minutes - cut out a lot but it is still 11 minutes - wanted everyone to have a chance to have a long look!

Sept 29:
:vid: A visit from both eagles

Working on today's video.

From today's visit - Sept 30:

In the meantime, I caught these shots of the male's tail and eye as you zoomed in Judy - there were split seconds of clearing that I caught by going frame by frame while viewing the video.

His right eye (sorry the closer view was pixelated!) and this one isn't exactly clear! click 2x for bigger

Sorry Judy, this is the best "cowlick" I could come up with - there was no wind at the time. All leaves were still.

Yes! The "cowlick" spot/shadow! Went back to look again!
