10:44 am Went through both DVR's and as expected did not see any eagles at the nest. All is quiet except for the usual traffic and construction noises.

For anyone interested in watching:
The Delta2 nest cams https://hancockwildlife.org/delta-2-cams/ are scheduled for cleaning this afternoon at 4:30 pm Pacific time barring unforeseen problems at the nest. The tree is not in very good shape and the climber may decide it is too precarious to climb.

Just looked back on the dvr, and didn't see any activity.
Thanks for letting us know about the plans for cleaning the cams at Delta 2, gemini - our turn should be coming soon.

Good morning everyone, sorry I was away for a day or so, my back was acting up really bad. I think I found out what a few of those birds were that Sur and Res brought to the nest for the chicks, seems they may have been baby seagulls...they look the same as what I remember seeing. I was just at the nest and there is no activity around. Going to go look at the link next..bye for now.
Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
Good afternoon, everyone, and thank you for the weather and the observations. Ken rebooted some things around 12:30, and both cams have been streaming well since them. South cam's dvr is skipping again - I've checked what I could see, and haven't seen any eagles. I was speaking to David Hancock a few minutes ago, and he said there are no eagles to be seen anywhere in the area at this point, so it's not surprising that ours are also gone.
1:45 pm
So - this is black and white, though I'm not sure if the white is on the back or front end - but I'm pretty sure it's a bug, not an eagle!

Good morning all, Judy, I was looking at the skies here and there are no eagles anywhere..they are usually flying around looking for small prey..must be off to the salmon runs. Stay safe all..
Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
I've just learned that David Hancock and his team will be cleaning the cams at Surrey Reserve today, starting around 5 pm today - I'll be able to do some zooming but could really use more eyes looking for spots to clean and things like that. Thanks!

I've had an update from Myles, and it may be closer to 5:30-6:00 before they're there.
I'm going to log in to the cams and look for areas needing cleaning in preparation.

They've arrived! I've seen a line arrive in the nest tree.
If you're watching, please help post pictures - not easy to do that while controlling the cams!
We don't have a good view down with either cam, but I'll see if I can find our crew.
The bottom part of the South/Wide-Angle cam is very foggy - I'm going to ask the climbers to look at that in case it's something they can clean. It's been that way since the beginning, and might be moisture, but I'm hoping they can remove it.
Here's a view of what I think is the same rope from the North cam, to the right of the trunk; unfortunately I can't look down without the cam spinning around.

Hi Judy! My computer is just warming up...will try to help out with some posts
Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
Judy, I have the embedded cams up....not familiar with this nest so can you tell me....is the one long view cam on another tree? If so, which are they doing first?
Hi Bev!

You are welcome Judy and I posted on H Mills that we could use some help here

Hi Marg.. great you are here

Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
Thanks, Sue, and hi, Bev. Thanks for helping out!
I'll also post when I can, but may also need to be on the phone with the climbers, and am not good at multi-tasking (though we should be able to go back on the dvr if we miss anything, so I'm not asking for anything heroic - I know it's getting late on the east coast!).

Thanks Judy... living on the east coast has its disadvantages

Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
I take it that this is the South cam (on another tree) as viewed through the N cam. If so, I didn't see any ropes going up there yet.
Re: Surrey Reserve 2018-2019 Observation and Discussion
Here's a look across towards the South cam (which is not easy to see with the spots on the cam covers) - I'm not seeing a rope going up there, so they may be focusing on getting one or both climbers into the Nest and working on the North cam first.
Gemini and I have phone numbers for both climbers; our climbers today are Stan, who did such a great job at Delta 2 yesterday, and Myles from HWF, who has worked on a number of these cams. I know David Hancock will also be there; I'm not sure about our tech person Ken - haven't heard from him yet. I'll be in touch with them as they work on the cams and the nest, so please post here or send me a PM if there's something you see that I'm missing.
Here's the to-do list we sent for maintenance:
1. Cams need cleaning; North/overhead cam developed some big splotches shortly after the fledglings left, and there are also parts of the South cam where we can't see clearly
2. Please check cabling and connections on Surrey North (the cam over the nest); the signal breaks up much more frequently than on any of our other cams - wind may be a factor, and Ken says it's not likely to be a loose wire, but maybe there's something that affects the signal that you'll be able to see while you're onsite
3. Some of the base sticks that Myles tied together are poking up and the eagles' tails and wings sometimes get caught up on them; the eagles themselves have tried in vain to break them or remove them and couldn't so maybe they could be trimmed
Added - you got it, Sue!
