Great pictures, Bev - thank you!
I just sent an email to David Hancock to let him know that we haven't seen either adult today. He knows a lot more than I do about eagles - and he lives a couple of blocks away, so may be able to check on what's happening under the nest. I tried calling but couldn't reach him - he is a busy fellow.
I will note that the chicks might not be happy, but they will be OK for quite a while - and with these long days in BC, I'm hoping we'll see one or both of the adults before the sun goes down.
It has occurred to me that Mom/Res may have hurt her leg in a fight with a female hoping to take over this very nice nest - in which case it's possible that both adults are spending their time defending the nest from an intruder pair. It is a really nice nest - but eagles in general and intruders in particular aren't into risking their lives unnecessarily. Sur is a young and strong eagle, and I'm pretty sure anyone thinking to challenge him will think again quickly - so if that's what's going on, I'm guessing the pair will be moving on to easier challenges soon.
Update - while I was typing that, I got a call back from David Hancock, and he'll be going to the site later today to see what's going on.
It's now 5:42 pm in BC, and I still haven't seen an adult - but the South cam is back - thank you, Ken!
And hopefully Sur will be stopping by soon with food for Dee and Ess. It's almost 9 in Maine, but I'll bring my phone and watch for a while.
Goodnight, everyone....

18: 10 and still no parent.. I hope David lets us know if all is well. Does anyone help out if the parents don't show? Surely they won't let the chicks die?

Hi all,
I spoke with David and he is aware of the situation and is trying to find a solution. The outcome will depend on what the powers that be will allow him to do.
In the meantime, let's all hope and pray one of the adults returns!
