Thanks for your posts, Bev!

Checking back....

2:50 pm
Sur arrives with something.
20190604_005.jpg

I think both chicks are interested, and both seem to be getting some bites.
20190604_006.jpg

Meal was over by 3:06 pm.

It's now 5:20 pm, and I didn't see any additional visits.

And I will note that while we may not be seeing a lot of feeding, the eaglets now eat very fast so food that might have taken an hour to feed a few weeks ago is now gone in a few minutes.

Good afternoon, everyone! Sorry this is so late, but I saw some cute interaction earlier today. Res arrived at 5:58 am with some sort of small food object - I never did get a good look at it, but I think it wasn't "opened." She stood there holding it for a moment while the chicks stared at her and it, then Dee grabbed it, looked at it, looked at Mom, and yelled at her. (Well, Dee's beak was open, and it sure looked as if s/he expected some service.)

Res flew off at 6:01. Dee poked at the object a few times. Ess was slowly moving closer. And at 6:03 am, Ess grabbed at the object, and there was a brief view of it while they both tugged on it. Ess got it, and I think he or she made some progress, though I was busy with other things so don't if Ess got more than a couple of bites.

On another topic....

I'm not going to be online much until Monday evening (it's all good - busy doing fun things) so I'd really appreciate it if people would post if they see something interesting - or just to report that all is well. Thanks!

Evening everyone! I checked the DVR back to your last post, Judy, and didn't see an adult in the nest EXCEPT at 3:20pm when Sur brought a fish. It was a slow start as neither chick showed much interest in food! Sur had lots of bites - then Ess got up and Sur fed h/her..

Dee finally showed some interest and got up too.. Dee at top..

And Dee got some good bites as well - along with the last big piece of that fish..
Untitled 38147 (2).jpg
After that the feed was over and Sur flew off the nest...
Untitled 38149.jpg
ADD: I didn't see any visits to the nest by an adult after that...but nice to see that these chicks are being so well fed that they aren't mobbing the adult when food is brought to the nest..... :)

8:55pm All quiet here - Dee and Ess are both asleep in the nest...

From the DVR:

Hi again - an adult - Res?? arrived in the nest at 9:30pm. At first I thought it had something in the talons of it's right foot, because the way it was putting that foot down looked unusual. But looking at the scaps, I don't see any prey.
Untitled 38188 (2).jpg
The chicks both got up, and the adult poked around in the nest overs, but didn't attempt to feed the chicks...
Untitled 38191.jpg
Then it 'hobbled' over towards the edge of the nest and flew to the little branch...

There was an awkward landing...the adult was favouring it's right foot - which it hung down for awhile. Then it turned around on the little branch and faced towards the chicks and the nest....

Thanks for your reports, Yolande and Bev - and that is concerning to see one of the adults with an injured leg. My guess would be Mom Res - it looked like her little tuft of feathers on the head in one of the pictures, and she more often spends the night on the perch. Keeping fingers crossed that it’s something that will heal quickly.

Judi, there have been a couple of seagulls brought in, and I think what you’re seeing is parts of those - but I’ll take a look when I get near a computer.

Hi Judy, Bev, Judi, and all...

From the DVR:

Res brought a black bird to the nest at 9:38am. Ess immediately claimed it and started defeathering while Dee watched. Res stayed in the nest for a few minutes - then went to the little branch. She is not putting much weight on that right foot and perched on the little branch using only her left foot and talons..

We can see how swollen her right foot is in the scaps compared to her left foot..

Untitled 38281 (2).jpg
Here she is on the little branch...
Untitled 38254 (2).jpg
Res flew off at 9:54am

Ess eventually had h/her fill and Dee moved in on the bird and fed too - it's great that both chicks are pretty confidant self-feeders!

Sur arrived with a fish at 10:18am. He ate quite a bit of the fish before he was interrupted by something and started trilling..
Untitled 38291.jpg
Untitled 38295.jpg
That got the attention of both chicks and Dee came closer, asking for some fish too!

Sur fed Dee lots of great bites ...eventually Ess went back to the bird and picked away at that..
Untitled 38302.jpg
Ess went back to feeding on the bird...
Untitled 38307 (2).jpg
Ess soon moved over to where Sur and Dee were enjoying the fish and made a snatch - getting the rest of the fish and swallowing it whole...
Untitled 38308.jpg
Sur flew off at 10:25am

Both chicks got some of the bird that Res brought - also some of Sur's fish.
