Good morning, everyone! Thanks, Bev and nightowl, for being so regular here - I have been checking in occasionally, but busy with family things this weekend.

9:50 am
North still has a spinning circle, and South is very choppy, so I'm going to reboot both of them, one after the other.

12:37 pm Good afternoon everyone. Everything is quiet at the nest. Checked both DVR's back to Bev's post. N cam sound is sputtering and pixelating as per usual, South is fine.

Thanks, gemini - both cams were sounding and looking good when I checked around 5:30 pm, so I didn't try a reboot. They only went back a couple of hours, so Ken may have done something.

Cam maintenance for Harrison Mills is scheduled for tomorrow - climbers should be arriving around 10-10:30, and with a bit of luck will be in the nest area around noon.

Good night, everyone!

Good morning, everyone! Cams were streaming when I looked in a few minutes ago - will check again in a while.

Maintenance at Harrison Mills today - climbers hope to reach the site around 11-11:30 pacific time, and it will take maybe an hour for them to set their lines and climb up to the nest (it's a BIG tree). Please feel free to join us on the Harrison Mills forum to see the action and help post - viewtopic.php?f=11&p=236886#p236843

Cams are here - https://hancockwildlife.org/harrison-mills-cams/

10:33 am Just checked the S Cam DVR back to the beginning (8:23 am yesterday!) The DVR jumped ahead in 2 and 3 hour blocks - maybe cam was down? or clock is wonky? In either case didn't see anything! North cam had spinning circle. Heading over to watch the Harrison nest action!

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for starting our day, nightowl - and I don't know what to think about the gaps in the cams, gemini. I know while the eagles were there, I had the cams streaming a lot more often than I have the last few weeks - and I know when I watch on YouTube (which I don't often do, but I can make the cam size somewhat larger there, so sometimes do that rather than go to full screen) - anyway, on YouTube it (sometimes) shows how many are watching:
20190903_003.jpg
20190903_003.jpg (2.58 KiB) Viewed 3824 times
And maybe if no one is watching for some amount of time, the dvr stops recording - which doesn't make much sense, because for most types of videos (like TV shows), the time people want it recorded is when they're not watching. But maybe.... Anyway, now that we managed to clean the cams at Harrison Mills before the eagles returned, I'm back to watching Surrey Reserve more often - though maybe not on my iPad during dinner, at least until there are eggs. :mihihi:

I was watching this morning, and thought the morning light was really magical - this is from around 6:30 am:
20190903_002.jpg

Based on what we've seen at our nearby cam nests in White Rock and Delta, I don't expect the adults to return until late September or early October - last year an eagle was seen near the nest on October 3rd (before the cams were turned on), but they could have been back sooner and not observed.

So I do have a request to anyone reading this who lives in the Surrey area - please post or send me an email ([email protected]) if you start seeing eagles in the area. Since we have not yet had even one full year watching this pair, there's a lot we don't know about their habits - like if they will start work on the nest as soon as they return, or if they'll relax down by Semiahmoo Bay for a few weeks before putting in an appearance - or what they might do. So if you're in the area - please check the trees for eagles when you're out and about. Thanks!
