Good morning, everyone, and thanks for posting the weather, Bev!

6:44 am
The chicks are dozing.

This is a cropped full-screen shot showing their feather development - really amazing to watch!

I'll take a quick look back with the dvr.

From the dvr....

The dvr goes back to 4:46 am; an adult (probably Mom Res) was on the nest with the chicks; she was sleeping but Ess was up for a ps and some preening.
20190515_004.jpg

Res flew up to the perch at 4:52 am and called, and then flew off; it was already beginning to get light.

Sur arrived at 5:16 with breakfast - maybe a mouse? It was fairly small and I thought I saw a long thin tail; she's holding it with her left foot.
20190515_005.jpg

He started preparing it, and Dee came over; Ess didn't get up immediately - I don't think it was submission - I'm thinking Ess is still full from yesterday (great reporting, gemini!).

Ess moved in after a couple of minutes and also had some nice bites. Feeding was over around 5:26, and Sur moved over to sit with the eaglets.

continuing from the dvr....

Sur with his big chicks!

Around 6:19 am Sur moved to the pantry and dug something out of storage and began a feeding. Dee was up first, but Ess soon joined in.
20190515_008.jpg

It was a fairly small chunk of food so the feeding was only a couple of minutes. The chicks curled up for a nap. Sur stood watching for a while, then flew off at 6:33 am.

It's now 7:11 am, and the chicks are still dozing. It's hard to tell who is who, but it looks to me as if Ess has some nice little feathers coming in on his/her wing.

Res in with grass.

She left a minute or two later.

It's now 8:40 am, and I didn't notice any additional activity since my last post.

11:52-11:59 a.m.: Parent flies in with prey, something feathered. Dee approaches first and gets lots of bites. Then Ess does a poo shoot and comes over. I think some feathers got consumed by both eaglets during this meal, since the prey was not defeathered prior to being delivered to the nest, and both eaglets were snatching at morsels offered by the parent or available near their feet.
12:00 p.m.: Feeding over. Parent crosses the nest and does some aeration, then eaglets lie down for a snooze.
12:22 p.m.: Parent flies off.

Thanks for your report, Sue!

2:50 pm
Sur (I think) stopped by a couple of minutes ago and checked the pantry - which was pretty empty. He took off, and was back almost immediately with a young bird.

I think he was followed.

And I'm hearing what I think are some not happy crows.

It is what it is....

Thanks, Bev!

I was watching on my iPad while I had dinner, and both of the adults ate some food on the nest while the chicks slept - which sort of surprised me. I can't easily look back on the iPad, but I did see that both chicks had a feeding just before that. :)

5:18 pm
Both chicks are being fed, while the second adult is keeping watch from the perch.

The adult on the perch has flown off - and I need to leave soon as well.

Good night, everyone!

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for the weather and early reports, Bev!

I just had to post this - it's the picture before I clicked play from the South cam - similar to the one I posted last night, but higher res than I can usually get.
20190516_003.jpg

I was watching while I had breakfast, and there's been at least one feeding already.

They also had a bit of a tussle this morning. I think Ess started it, and not surprisingly, Dee won - but what amazed me were their really big wings. I'll have the video up in a few minutes.

We have a little rainbow on the nest this morning!

As usual, YouTube got a better screenshot than I did - here's the chicks with the rainbow, courtesy of the YouTube start screen:

I love how they appear to be watching the rainbow!

8:11 am
Sur stopped by. No food, so the chicks weren't interested.
20190516_012.jpg

Checking back, Res was there at 7:47 am; I think she brought straw, but dug something out of the nest and brought it to the feeding area. Dee was up right away.
20190516_013.jpg

Ess got up, but didn't move over. It was a small item, and Dee got all the bites this time.
