Looking further back....

Sur arrived with something around 5:23 am. It was claimed by the eaglet on the right, and then he did a bit of calling.

Eaglet with food is on the left here.

Sur flew up to the perch and stayed there for a while keeping watch.

He came back to the nest, and the eaglet who didn't have food had some choice comments - and he left again, at about 5:29 am.

End of the dvr review.

I'll reboot the North cam as it seems to be pixelated again.

Good morning Judy, boy, Dee is sure practicing with his wings today, I thought he was going to take right off. Thank you for the footage, Judy, I went back and tried to see Sur dropping food but only got a glimpse. Thanks for rebooting the north cam.

Morning Nightowl, and ty for starting the day and the weather report.
I was reading back and noticed you mentioned that the parent was getting the leftovers picked out, I was thinking the same thing about the smell. Like you said " they can't smell" but I bet critters on the ground sure can. I was looking at the chicks and they do seem much bigger than mom and dad. I am also curious if they are both male or female. I am still so tired I forgot what else I was going g to say. :oops2:

Sur arrived with something. I've been noticing the last couple of days that Sur has some sort of dark mark on the top of his head - maybe got too close to some of the food he was preparing.

I think this is Dee who is investigating the food - not sure what it is, and I think Dee isn't either.
20190616_017.jpg

Now that Dee has moved it nearer the edge, I think it may be a fairly large fish, open on one side.

11:22 am
Dee is eating some from the new meal, but doesn't seem too motivated - I think both of them may be full from the big feeding earlier this morning. Dee is looking around a lot, too.
20190616_018.jpg

As of 11:26 am, Dee is still working on the food object, and Ess is lying nearby, keeping watch but not hungry enough to make a move.

I think there was an earlier visit - off to check the dvr.

From the dvr....

Sur arrived at 10:42 with some sort of fish or maybe part of a fish that he'd scavenged.
20190616_019.jpg

It looks to me as if Dee grabbed it.
20190616_020.jpg

Around 10:56 Dee had stopped eating and Ess moved in checking for leftovers; not sure what Ess found, but it looked as if s/he was eating something.

Hi again, yes there was an earlier visit but I couldn't make out what he brought, the last one was a good sized bull Head from what I can make out. They have been bringing in a lot of those. They are plenty in the rivers as when I used to fish I caught lots. Yes, Sur does seem to have a dark spot on his head, I was trying to see what it was. Both Dee and Ess look like they are quite full at the moment. So good compared to the other day when we were so worried.

Thanks for the info on the fish, Beth! Jumping back to the present, it looks as if Dee has moved away from the fish, and there seems to be quite a bit left.
20190616_022.jpg

And now Ess is checking it out!
20190616_023.jpg

Excellent - food for both!

Dee (I think) seems to be very interested in something in the tree.

I'm going into the South cam for a minute to see if I can see what Dee is watching.

I didn't see anything higher in the tree - and Dee had stopped looking up before I was able to log into the cam.

These are trees near the water where the eagles may perch while they are catching the fish we see - but it was a lot easier to see down there before the leaves came out! You can see the cliffs of Point Roberts across the bay, though not so easy today.

12:14 pm
Sur just arrived with something, and is feeding the eaglets - or at least feeding Dee - Ess is still watching.
20190616_026.jpg

Well, Ess (unless I have them confused) grabbed the object, which looked like another fish. Then stood there. After a bit, Sur took it back and is now feeding Ess.
20190616_027.jpg

And now Dee has moved closer, and both are getting fed.

I think the little fish is done (or maybe one of the chicks grabbed it again) - so now Sur has moved to the big fish, and is beginning to feed that to the chicks.

Those videos are great, gemini - thanks so much! I hadn't realized that one eaglet was tugging on the food item Sur brought, and then the other grabbed it after the first one pulled it off! And I hadn't noticed that Ess(?) was using weights while s/he flapped - wow!

3:30 pm
Both eaglets appear to have plump crops!

And I almost forgot to wish Dee a Happy Hatch Day - Dee is 9 weeks old today!

Looking back....

Mom Res arrived at 4:07 pm. I don't think she brought food, but she found some and started a feeding.

I think this is Dee on the nest and Ess on the side - and wow - we haven't had a family portrait in ages - Sur just did a quick in and out.
