Thanks, Marg and Beth! And I have no idea if there are deer in that area. There are a lot of houses or condos or whatever they are - but there also seems to be some woods. Definitely a question for someone who knows the area better than I do.

3:33 pm
Quick delivery by Sur - who still has a very red tail!

It looks like a fish, and I think Ess got it.

I tried to get a clear picture of tail feathers and had no luck with that, though I saw them flash by enough to be pretty sure it was Ess who was eating. Also, the one who didn't have the food wasn't lurking and trying to grab it - and Dee worked a long time on the squirrel(?) and I think ended up getting a good meal for his/her work, so I wouldn't expect Dee to be as hungry right now as Ess.

It's now 3:48 pm and the meal is over and the eaglets are standing around and looking out and occasionally preening.
I would think that there might be deer in that area Judy. We did go out there at the beginning when David asked people to show up after the original nest was down. :cry1:

Two pics.

Judy, great videos! And wonderful scaps and observations from everyone - thank you all!

2:42 am Checking back on the DVR Sur cam in at 8:20 pm with a large chunk of something - I think a bird of some kind although it was already opened up as there was no prep before he started to feed the chicks.
Ess was fedd first and about 10 -15 min later Dee got some. The feeding lasted until 8:45 pm and Sur left. Ess got the bulk of this feed.

At 8:53 pm Mom arrived. She fed herself and the chicks until 9:07 pm with Dee getting the bulk of this feeding. She flew up to the perch and left from there.

Mom is doing well on her bad leg. She anchored the food item, and even scratched herself with it and her landing on the perch was much better.

:vid: Mom doing a bit better on her injured leg.

And I am off to :offtobed: - another full day tomorrow out early and back late again! An appointment and another friend's Birthday celebration! It seems most of my friends were born in June!

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for the details and video of Res's visit, gemini - I've started a timeline for Res's recovery in the opening posts, and will add these new achievements! And thanks for checking back and posting the weather, Bev.

Looking back....

Sur came in around 4:47 am with food. Both chicks came over, but he seemed to be eating more than he was feeding them initially.

One of the chicks started reaching for bites after a bit
20190615_002.jpg

I think the second eaglet eventually got some food - but neither of them were that interested in some of the items Sur was offering.
20190614_030.jpg

I'm quite certain it was Sur who brought the food - his tail still looked stained, and he was steady on both feet as he moved around. I'm a lot less sure who got the most food - I'm leaning towards Ess because it looked as if the tail feathers had white tips, though that's hard to see when the cam is in black and white - but it seems odd that Dee would miss a chance to be fed by one of the adults - though the other chick did have a nice plump crop.

Whoever it was, they had a nice meal - and everything seemed relaxed, so if the other chick had wanted food, it could have had some - Dad held food towards the second chick several times, and s/he wasn't interested.

continuing from the dvr....

Sur stopped by quickly at 5:33 am. He may have brought something, but the chicks didn't seem interested. He left a moment later.

It's now 9:00 am, and I didn't see any other visits.

I'm going to reboot the North cam then take a break for lunch.

Hi everyone! I had a chance to watch your videos, gemini and Darlene - those are great! And I'm so happy to see Mom coming along so well! I was watching the most recent visit on my iPad while I had lunch - and I loved the part where Res was eating leftovers, and Ess came over to be fed - and after a minute, Dee - with new plump fish firmly gripped in one foot - hopped over to also get some bites from Mom!
20190615_007.jpg

Ess moved out of the way - and did get some bites.
20190615_008.jpg

And Mom Res also got some food - which is was good to see.

As an aside, I think Dee's fish was a little fresher than most fish s/he has received - and even after Res left, when Dee went to start on the fish s/he'd been toting around, it was still flapping a bit - and I think Dee wasn't quite sure what to do about that initially. But Dee soon figured it out, and had a nice meal. Ess watched for a bit, but apparently wasn't hungry enough to try for a steal.

Here's Ess lying down, but keeping an eye on Dee and the fish, just in case.

It's now 11:17, and I haven't seen any additional visits.

It's a lovely day here, and I'm away from the computer for a while.

I went back a bit and got these scaps.
One of them hd a fish and was eating it then I think it finally gulped it down.
Added: I did see if flapping around Judy. I meant the fish was flapping around. lol

Did you notice in the last video that Res's tail was dirty also?

Just checking again. "Res on the nest" her tail is really frayed..

Thanks for the s'caps, Marg - and I had noticed that Res's tail is a bit dirty, Beth - I wonder if it's harder for her to keep it out of the dirt or mud when she's getting food.

Looking back, there was a very quick visit at 12:28 - I think by Sur, delivering another small fish, which I think Ess claimed.

Well, Ess grabbed the fish, and took it to the edge of the nest to eat, and I think I saw him/her get a couple of bites, though s/he had his/her back to the cam - but either s/he ate very fast, or else wasn't hungry as after the first bites, Ess was just standing there for a while, then went over to sit on the nest beside Dee.

Oh - this may need a video - I just realized that while I was replaying the earlier visit, Res stopped by at 1:08 and delivered a little fish that Dee claimed - and Res held up his/her fish - saying "I've got one too"? Or saying "feed me!"? I don't think either of them have eaten their fish, and I know they both are capable of opening fish, though they prefer the pre-opened kind.

:vid: Eaglets with Fish (2 minutes)

I paused for a few seconds in the middle of the recording when they were looking around so I could get Ess's big wings in at the end without going over 2 minutes.

It's not obvious, but both eaglets are holding up their fish in this screenshot:
20190615_013.jpg

It's now 1:43 and I think Dee has been working on her/his fish, though I think there's still some left. I don't think Ess has been back to his/her fish yet.

Added - I'm pretty sure this is Res - based on the tuft of feathers on the top of the head, and what I could see of her eye. And her tail looked more gray than red. But she was moving very well, in the couple of steps she took.
