7:20 a.m.: Dee and Ess sleeping soundly. I'm not sure which eaglet has a wing outstretched.
7:25 a.m.: One of the eaglets is up and did a poo shoot.
7:29 a.m.: Eaglet leans over and nibbles on the wing of its sleeping sibling.

7:45-7:53 a.m.: I think this is Ess (the younger of the two) doing a poo shoot, wing stretch and preening.

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for your reports, Sue - and I also think it was Ess in your second post; s/he is a day and a half younger, so doesn't have quite as many tiny feathers as Dee. Ess is also smaller - but not by much any more!

And Bev, it was nice seeing that there was an adult on the perch at night - it seemed that one would be nearby when the chicks were alone at night, but until we switched to this wider view, there was really no way to tell.

8:35 am
Ess is looking around and Dee is preening - all those itchy little feathers will keep them pretty busy for the next month or so!

I looked back on the dvr, and not much happened since Sue's post - just chicks hanging out.

Dee is four weeks old today - where does the time go!

10:20 am Dee and Ess are alone in the nest asleep.

Went back to 8:40 am and the chicks have been alone since then. They have basically slept, scratched, preened, and scratched and preened some more!

Res arrived with something - I was thinking food, but it turned out to be a large amount of fluff for the nest.

She tried spreading it on the chicks, but they were sort of up in arms ... I mean wings ... about that idea!
20190512_005.jpg

She left shortly afterwards.

10:53 am
She's back - with straw this time! The fly-in was wonderful, but hard to get a clear s'cap.

This is all great - but I'm reminded of the commercial - "where's the beef?"

Sur is in with food.

Dee got some bites

Then as Ess began to make his/her move, there was a lot of calling, and Sur flew off. I think the chicks are wondering what to do next.

Dee is trying to self-feed - and actually got a bite!

Res arrived and began feeding Ess

After a minute, Dee got up and joined in

3:10 pmI changed the time in my previous post. I went bact to 8:40 am not 10:40 am. Sorry about that.

Went back to 1:04 pm - Sur sitting with his sleeping chicks – something just moved by his tail! A minute later Res came in with furry something and landed on top of the live prey and it moved again. I can’t do this again. I know it’s nature at work but .......! BBL when I think it’s safe to watch.

I'd been partially watching, and missed that, gemini - and totally agree that one needs to know what one is comfortable watching, and walk away as needed - I know I definitely do that.

On another topic, I'll note that it's windy and the cam isn't pixelating - so maybe the change I made to the settings is helping. Ken said to see if it helps and let him know.

5:29 pm
I looked back two hours, and happily didn't see anything moving on the nest. Res arrived about 5:03 pm, and that's about it for the last two hours. She's still on the nest, and the chicks are still sleeping - and I'm heading to bed very soon.

Good morning, everyone. I just did a quick check on the direct link and tried a reboot but it didn't wake up the embedded cams.

I did catch a bit of a feeding, and I think Res may have brought in some straw. :)

A closer look at feather development (clicks much bigger) - Ess is 4 weeks old today.

Embedded cams have been up about 90 minutes - thanks, Ken!

Looking back, Res arrived about 10:20 with what might be a gray squirrel. As usual, Dee is eating first, while Ess stays close but looks submissive.
20190513_004.jpg

By 10:27, Ess was also getting bites.
20190513_005.jpg

I have to say it's getting really hard to tell them apart except for Dee having more dark feathers coming in, and Ess occasionally acting submissive (and when they stand up and face off against each other, I think Ess is as tall, but a bit slimmer when they stretch out to try to out-tall each other).
20190513_006.jpg

It's now 10:46 and they are both still eating, side by side, with plump crops.

I'm busy with a non-forum project today, but will try to keep my eyes on them.
