Went back to 8:10 am and Res was on the nest with the chicks.

Not much food on the nest and Dee and Ess are a bit testy this morning. Mom managed to find some leftovers for a couple of feeds. One at 8:32 that lasted about 10 minutes and attempted another at 9:01 am but there were only a couple of bites.

At 9:52 Res left - I presume she is looking for food! - and the chicks are on their own. And at 10:38 am they are still alone in the nest.

Sorry no scaps, I am having trouble with my mouse sticking and am just getting frustrated trying to make it work - it takes forever to just get across the timeline bar on the DVR never mind resizing and saving scaps!

10:50 and Res is back. She brought something with her but I think it is only grass. She picks around for leftovers but the cupboard is bare.

I am heading over to OWL open house in a bit and am working the HWF table all day tomorrow so won't be around much today and tomorrow - so please post if you are watching!

Have fun at OWL, gemini!

I think I saw a small food item brought in fairly early this morning (5:30 or 6:00) but my joints were moving slow so I didn't take notes today, other than a mental note that everything seemed to be going smoothly.

And I agree it is time for another larger food item to show up.

Res arrived at 10:50 with some grass, which she proceeded to spread on the chicks - they were not amused.

She fed a few bites from the leftovers, I think mostly to Dee, and flew off around 11:03. She called a couple of times before leaving, and I've heard calls since.

Adult on the nest with the chicks, and it looks like a feeding, but I didn't see any new food coming in.

I think this is Sur on the nest - and I'm thinking that it may be getting time to pull the North cam back a bit - what do others think?

1:25 pm
Sur spent a lot of time looking for bits of meat and feeding them to the chicks, and I think Dee got more, though Ess definitely got some.

Res arrived with something - maybe a fish? Or maybe not - haven't had a good look at it yet.

Maybe not a fish - looks a bit like some sort of roadkill. Dee doesn't seem that interested, but Ess's crop is pretty small, and Ess is interested.

And of course Dee got the first couple of bites, because that's what the oldest does - but Ess is also getting some.

Dee just backed up to add to the artwork on the tree, and then showed off his/her crop.

Ess is doing OK - but has some catching up to do.

The chicks had been sleeping (Ess sprawled on the nest, Dee next to the adult) when Ess got up and appeared to try to walk over Dee. Dee wasn't amused, and bopped Ess. And then the adult flew off, perhaps in search of a snack to distract the chicks.

Both have fairly full crops - but this is the age when they are growing fast and can eat a whole lot of food.

Checking back....
Adult arrives at 5:09 pm and seems to be bringing something. I think it's Sur that arrived, and don't see what he brought, if anything.

Chicks did sit up in hopes of feeding, and it looks as if he found something buried in the nest, and dug it out.

Ess is there first, and Dee is looking for a good approach.

It looks as if it took a while before he found any food, and I sort of doubt if either of them got much food from this feeding.

Res just arrived, and I was hoping this is food but it looks more like turf.
20190504_022.jpg

And Sur flew off, and Res is working on the whatever-it-is - so maybe it's food.
20190504_023.jpg

Not sure what is mixed in, but both chicks are interested.

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for the weather, Bev!

Catching up....

I first looked in a bit before 6 am, and an adult was with the chicks in the rosy light of dawn; the adult flew off around 6:30 am.

Dvr goes back to about 6:50, and chicks were alone until Res arrived at 7:39; she found a couple of bites of leftovers for Dee, and flew off at 7:43 am.

It's now 8:53 and the chicks are still alone. Dee has some food in his/her crop, and Ess has a bit, but it's time for another major food delivery here. And I expect the parents are working on that.

Added -
Res stopped by briefly, from 9:29 - 9:35 am.
