wow crop looks really big on our baby!

well Brit and Rey hit the ground running today how many feeds are we at 4 for brit and 4 for rey? haha

8:14pm........Rey picked up that clump of feathers/leftovers? and carried it over to the prey. He tried to eat it, not sure if he did. Then he started to take feathers off the prey again.


Once SR9 saw Rey with the food h/s began to squeal and call.

8:15pm...........SR9 watched and peeped and waited. Rey came to the chick to offer some bites a minute later.

8:16pm.......Rey offered some bites but the chunks were pretty big for a day old chick. SR9 opened h/h mouth wide.

WOW! Little chick swallowed that large piece!

[Jean]

8:17pm.....Feeding over.........Rey has come back to settle over the chick.

Thanks.......it's all about anticipating. Where are they going next? What will they do next? But of course we have beautiful subjects.

8:24pm....Brit's home!

[Jean]

8;27pm........Brit walked closer to Rey...........telling him to get off the chick...........time to go to bed. Rey is ignoring her.

sr9 is really steady getting up and moving at only a day wow

8:32pm....Finally Rey flew off........probably went back to the top of the tree where he keeps guard.

[Jean]

8:34pm........Little chick looked like he was ready to sleep........until Brit came closer and began to aerate the nest.

[Jean]

8:36pm.....Chick is tucked in for the night now...........Brit is awake but darkness is coming soon.

It has been a great day for this chick and our adults! The parents seem to have everything under control.............they have matured so much from last year! Little SR9 had an excellent day here. Having one chick in the nest has increased the chances of success for this family.
