That was the final visit I saw yesterday evening.

Here's today's weather - hard to believe there's still skiing in Alberta! Not a heat wave in Surrey - but warm and sunny (22C = 72F).

It's now 8:45 am, and I checked the dvr and did not see any visits so far this morning.

Have a good day, everyone!

I've added a video to my earlier post about last night's visit with the big stick.

Took a quick check of the dvr back to my previous post, and didn't see any activity.

I heard an eagle calling nearby and a whole lot of crows calling very loudly. I determined that they were nearing the mic over the nest than the one with the South cam, so I logged into the South cam to take a look around the nest tree - and didn't see anyone, even in the hidden upper perch.

So then I checked the perch the adults have been using near the building - and that's where the action was! The black flash is one of the crows diving at the eagle.

I'm not sure if the eagle has recently done something to upset the crows - it's perhaps a good thing I can't see if the eagle is holding a food item. It's also possible that there are crows nesting nearby who don't like an eagle that close - though given how often we see one or both eagles there, that seems less likely.

I did take a quick look with the North cam but could not see the eagle - it's possible he or she would be visible if I knew where to zoom.

The crows have moved on, and the adult is doing some preening. Time for me to take a bit of a walk, so I'll pull the cam back a bit and leave it watching the eagle for now.

2:18 pm
Back from my walk, and the adult is still there, and still busy preening, so I think they don't have any food.

3:21 pm
Adult is still there. Crows are back pestering him/her - pretty sure the eagle has been there the whole time so didn't do anything new to provoke them.

Logged in and looked around briefly to see if the other adult was nearby, but it seems to be this one who is the center of attention for the crows. I am out again at 3:28 pm.

This might be SF - hard to be sure.

Seeing a lot more shading on the head than I'd expect on SM - and the beak looks like a female to me. Actually seeing more shading than I'd expect on SF - but in the shade, it's more obvious, so thinking it's her.

She(?) flew off at 6:12 pm, after carefully looking around.

I've moved the South cam back to the nest, and logged out.

Have a good evening, everyone.

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for starting our day here, nightowl! :bye 1:

There were two brief visits that I found from yesterday evening.

An adult arrived at 9:19 pm and spent a bit of time working on the bird carcass. Maybe SM?

The adult also moved a few sticks, and left at 9:23 pm, first flying up to the little perch.

An adult was there for a little over a minute at 9:47 pm - maybe SF?

Not sure of the ID for either of them.

I heard a bit of calling a few minutes ago, and when I could I logged in on the South cam - and found someone perched on the branch with the buildings in the background - maybe SF?

I checked the north dvr back to my previous post, and didn't see any activity.

I'll leave the cam at a somewhat wider view which hopefully will stay in focus.

I'm logged out of the cam.

The adult perched among the leaves finally flew off at 6:55 pm.

I checked the north cam DVR back to my previous post and didn't see any visits (and didn't hear any calls around the time the eagle flew off.

I think I'll put the south cam back since it's not necessarily easy to see anything among the leaves now that the wind has picked up, and there won't be much light there once it starts getting dark.

Other zoomers - please feel free to move the cam and leave it where it makes the most sense to you.

Have a good evening, everyone!

I did a very quick check of the dvr back 12 hours and didn't see any visits, though I could easily have missed a quick one. Not seeing any changes in the branches on the nest or the old carcass, which also suggests that no one was there.

I'll be doing family things for much of the day - please post if you see anything interesting!

Have a good day, everyone!
