2109 - They moved another small twig just as the NF dropped in. Now I see them together and can tell them apart her lighter feathers.

She gets right to work "helping" her mate move a twig

2112 - the NM tugs on a stick on the east side.

2113 - the NM flew north. She watched him go until she got distracted by something in the dirt.

Dirt on her beak

2116 - she hopped out to the east perch and flew from there

0506 - the NM flew northwest

0507 - She watches a bit before flying after him in the same direction

0508:59 - She came back with a big leafy branch!

0510 - after moving the stick around a bit, she flew.

We're up to date. I'm off for some river adventures today. I'll see you all later on

P.S. I had one adult Bald Eagle land near me when I was on the beach yesterday, about a 10 to 15 walk to the nest - This Eagle had no fear of me and was possibly a male..and it absolutely could have been our NM, but I'll probably never know. :D

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for starting our day, nightowl, and thanks for covering the late night and early morning activity, CC! How exciting to be that close to an eagle!

I just checked the north cam dvr back to CC's post and did not see anyone come to the nest, and the branches all seem to be in the same place, so I'm guessing the eagles are enjoying a day away from the nest.

Good morning, everyone, and thanks for starting our day, nightowl!

There was a brief visit to the nest yesterday evening - I think this is NF who arrived at 8:22 and did a bit of digging in the nest - you can see a bit of nest material on her beak in the second s'cap.

It looks like a nice day in Surrey - 18C = 65F.

I did a quick check of the dvr and didn't see any activity until around 5 am when both adults arrived to do some work on the nest - I'll be back to watch that part of the dvr once I'm awake - there were sticks involved. :)

A few more pictures and a video from this morning's 5 am visit - there's a great stick moving segment about 4 minutes in. The video is mostly of them together on the nest - the female arrived a couple of minutes before it starts, and the male went up to the little perch just before the end of the video. They did some calling around 5:10 am, then both flew off - the male first, the female a second or two later.

It's now 6 pm; I've checked the north cam dvr quickly and didn't see any other visits - though now that I'm planning to leave, I'm hearing at least one eagle calling from a little ways off, and someone just flew into the hidden upper perch area, though I'm not sure it was large enough to be an eagle.

And it's been a long day here, so I may leave that story for someone else to tell, since no one has come to the nest.

Have a good evening, everyone!

Good morning, everyone, and :bye 1: nightowl!

There was a visit yesterday evening, so I'm going back to grab a couple of s'caps from that before it disappears.

One of the adults arrived at 7:47 am.
20220521_009.jpg

I wasn't sure which one it was until the second one arrived two minutes later, on the left - and the relative sizes made me pretty sure that it was New Male (NM) who arrived first this time, then New Female (NF).
20220521_010.jpg

They did a bit of work on the nest. Watching eagles work on their nests over the years, I've gotten the impression that different eagles have different ideas about the best place for a certain stick - but I do sort of wonder why NM thought NF's tail was the perfect spot for the stick he was placing. :%:
20220521_011.jpg

NM flew off at 7:53 pm; NF did a bit of preening and a little more work on the nest, the left at 8 pm.

Continuing from the dvr....

One of them was back briefly at 8:58 pm last night - I think this is NF.
20220521_013.jpg

And now we come to early morning - and it does amaze me how early the morning arrives in Surrey this time of year. I think this is NF who flew in first at 4:33 am, with NM flying to the east perch and joining her a minute later.
20220522_001.jpg
20220522_002.jpg

They worked on the nest a bit, then one of them flew off at 4:39 am and the other followed less than a minute later.

It's now 8:15 am, and I didn't see any additional visits.

And here's the weather for the day:
20220522_003.jpg

Have a good day, everyone!

Added - 10:45 am
I've added the video for the visit yesterday evening, and I checked the dvr back to my previous post and didn't see any activity.

Did a quick check of the dvr for the north cam, and didn't see any activity since my last post.

4:11 pm
Some arrived at the nest around 3:56 pm
20220522_006.jpg

I think it was NM (going by the dark eye mostly), and he left soon afterwards.
20220522_008.jpg

There was calling when I'm pretty sure NM wasn't doing it, though I didn't see the other eagle then.

I did find someone, though -
20220522_007.jpg

They are the black spot in the middle of the picture below, and I got there with the North cam by going to the left from the south cam tree preset and then zooming in on the dark spot.
20220522_009.jpg

Dinner's ready - I'm going to put the cam back on the nest because it's more likely that we'll be able to see what happens if someone goes there than we can here.
