Yes according to David and Darlene this is where Tucca had got himself in nice and deep into this tree. At least we have eyes on him
Thanks, CC - if it's OK with you, I'll log into the South cam now and make a preset Tucca_in_Tree here so we can find it again and then back out and circle the area so people can see where approximately that is - OK?

Once we have their locations bookmarked (with a preset) it will be easier to do a quick check of the nest or whatever.
yes absolutely

Good to see you here, JamJam.

So - my editing program refused to open so I could mark up my screenshot and I had to reboot.

I now have a preset on the North cam call fledgling_in_tree (or something like that) at the bottom of the list that will get to the fledgling who I think is in a tree to the left of the South Cam Tree when viewed from the North cam (note - preset for finding that tree is called North cam - long story).

Fledgling is in the red circle here, and I've marked what I think is the cam tree (the camera is up higher).

20210624_031a.jpg
Wow Judy that's great thanks! Now to find Tiku
I've been thinking this is probably Tiku - it's the one who flew to the evergreen, then flew again in the video Darlene got, and I'm thinking that's likely Tiku because of how active she/he was before the tumble.

Note - I'm going to call them both she when I'm in a hurry; I've been changing my guesses regularly, but they seem very similar in size and previous eaglets here were likely female.

Thanks, CC - I'm logging into South to do the preset.

Added -

This is the view of the preset Tucca in Nest Tree with red marks added.

This is a wider view with the same area marked.

I'm going to zoom in a bit and see if I can see Tucca.

Tiku is calling.

I've pulled the cam back a bit in case she flies - she was flapping her wings or at least stretching a minute ago.

I've also pulled the South cam back - since Tucca is moving around some in that maze of branches, we may see her off to a side from where she was a while ago.

CC - do you want one of the cams? If so, which one?

I can stay in the other in case there's activity, but other wise will just watch.

I think the preset for Tucca is off a bit - the area is a bit more to the right than where I was focused. I think.

Added - there's really not enough bandwidth for two of us to be in a cam at the same time, so I'll get out of the one you want.

Cams were starting to freeze - I'm out of South.

And as soon as I got out, I see flapping - going back in.

Flapping was in front of tree.

I need to step away from the computer for 15-20 minutes.

Both cams have presets - the bottom one on the list - for where the fledglings are; they've moved a bit but will get you to the general area.

I'm logging out of both cams. Back soon.

good evening Surrey,

Well a Fledge, Fludge, both took unexpected flight..
I was checking in on the nest at work and i panicked, no eaglets on the nest so I raced over to the forum and thank gosh for all
the updates for I would been a wreak at work until I got home to check on these sweet babys.

OH my gosh , I caught up on forum and saw the video, That was scary both going down. Thank you for all the updates on here on Tiku and Tucca.

Are they ok ? have they been seen close to home? I am watching cams now and think they are placed on one of the eaglets, Tiku i think forum said. Has Tucca been located.

Keeping my eyes glued to the nest praying and hoping they both find their way home..Thought I heard one of them calling a bit ago.
I am sure Res and Sur know where their wee ones are at as well.

Talons crossed for good flight back to the nest..

Good to see you here, Linuxgw2!

One of them - probably Tiku as she had done more branching and flying from branches to the nest - is definitely fine. She landed on a bouncy branch a ways below the nest, then flew to a tall evergreen tree near the nest (David Hancock was at the site and said she was perched on a branch higher than the nest, so she's flying strongly though needs practice and needs to build up endurance); she then left that tree and flew to a tree near the tree where the South cam is - and she's a bit hidden but she's still there; the North cam is aimed at her.

The other one fell into a tangle of branches below the nest; David Hancock reported that after a few hours she'd made her way to a much better position - and she can stretch at least one wing and is probably trying to find a place where she can do a bit of flapping. She's done a little branching and flying from a branch to the nest and back, but not as much so it may take her a bit of time to build up the strength to fly back to the nest - but she's powerfully motivated by food, and the adults are likely to bring food to the nest.

And I don't know the gender of the fledglings - I'm using female pronouns today to simplifying sentence structure.

I'm going to log into the North cam briefly to check the nest.

Not sure if there's anything new on the nest - it has been rather messy lately.

I changed the North cam preset looking at Tiku in the neighboring tree to Tiku-in-Tree; if you go to full screen, you can see her toe wrapped around a branch at the lower left part of the screen.

David Hancock called and asked me to post the flowing message:

If Tucca (the eaglet in the thick of the tree below the nest) begins to move from where h/s is currently located, he would like someone to call him. The Number is 604-761-1025.

Tucca is doing a lot of flapping - I've pulled the cam back a bit so we can see where she goes. Here are two blurry pictures of flapping wings, one zoomed in, the other where the cam is now.

Note to zoomers - there are houses in the background - please be careful you don't zoom in too closely on anyone. Thanks!

Tiku has moved a bit since I made the preset - she's now a bit lower. As it gets cooler and windier, I suspect she may try to fly back to the nest. I've also pulled the cam back a bit so it will be easier to see a departure.

I'm off the cams and away from the computer for a while.

Thank you JudyB for response to my post.

Good to be here watching Surry nest as well as Delta2 nest. So happy to hear both are ok after the fledge/fludge. I'm sure they both will make their way back to then nest eventually, hunger will drive them there and hopefully a safe return.

Just saw the one on south cam doing some wingers, I think forum said it is Tiku on south cam and Tucca is on North cam . if I recall my reading it correctly.

All eyes on our darling eaglets .

Hi Linuxgw2 - Tucca is on the South cam - and Tiku is on the North cam - I know it is confusing all this north/south stuff - but Judy said ......

"she (Tiku) then left that tree and flew to a tree near the tree where the South cam is - and she's a bit hidden but she's still there; the North cam is aimed at her.

1728 I was not seeing our Tiku on our North Cam but when I logged in and zoomed, there she was. She's been there for hours on this hot day. I'm desperately hoping to see her home soon.

So grateful for the ongoing coverage and it's obvious how much we all deeply care for them. Come on home T &T, we miss you!

Hi folks!

David Hancock sent me this photo of Tiku he took at the site around 1 pm today - she's looking good! (clicks much bigger)
20210624_DavidH_Tiku.JPG

I think both fledglings are still in the same general location as they have been, and they've been quiet for a while. I would not be surprised to see Tiku back at the nest fairly soon (maybe not tonight, but tomorrow morning seems very possible, especially if there's food there). It may take Tucca a bit longer - I think her feathers may still be growing, and shorter feathers make it harder for her to gain height, but she's a very strong and determined young eagle - and we have a community of people looking out for her, here on the forum, and also her human neighbors who live nearby.

Please continue to send good thoughts - and to post your observations. It's been a very busy day - have a good evening, and rest well, people and eagles.

Good night. :offtobed:

David asked me to check the nest every hour or so to see if a meal had been brought in - so if you see the nest instead of our eagles it will be brief.

7:12 pm Zoomers:
Tiku has moved from the preset - she went right and up at 7;09 PM - I tried to follow her but failed miserably (which is why I am not a zoomer unless I have to!) Cam back at preset.

7:33 pm I am going to login to N cam to have a quick look at the nest again - I'm out.

I was just chatting with David by the nest tree. We witnessed mom or dad fly in with what looked like a fish and seemed to have left it in the nook of the branch of the south camera tree. Baby walked up the tree to what appeared to be possibly eating it. Hard to know for sure.

Which would explain why h/s left the preset!

7:57 pm Just talked to David again. Tiku has left the preset and is higher up nibbling on the prey the adult left. He asked me to see if I could find her on cam.

If any other zoomers want to zoom please login and wiggle the cam and I will gladly give it up!

Cam view of David's observation of food delivery to Tiku's tree - Tiku is back and forth in one spot until she finally gets the courage to go after the meal.

Time frame: 7:02 - 7:09 pm - heavily edited.

2109 lots of calling but I am unfortunately unable to locate either Juvie. Sorry friends. It's been a long day of watching and my eyes need rest. Hoping our babes are making their way home tonight. Stay safe Tiku and Tucca.

I am off both cams and out for the night.

Good morning, everyone!

I am going to pull both cams back so we have a chance of seeing food delivery and movement by the eagles. I'll be watching on my ipad while I have breakfast and coffee.

Zoomers - please feel free to look around.

I'm going in on the South cam to look around.

Tucca is still in the same spot she was last night - not easy to see in a still picture (beak and top of head visible near center of screen), but I have a brief video to add once I get caught up. I've added a new preset Tucca_Tree-2 that goes to this zoomed-in position.
20210625_003.jpg

:vid: Where's Tucca (1 minute)

This is another new preset called Nest+Tucca - Tucca is roughly in the area of the wide circle (and unfortunately the cam is pixelating this morning in that area, but motion does disrupt the pixelation, and we do want to see if anyone comes to the nest.
20210625_004.jpg

These two presets should help zoomers switch back and forth to checking on Tucca and checking the nest.

I am going to log out of the South cam now, and log into the North cam and see if I can find Tiku - a bigger challenge because she has discovered that she can fly.

I am not seeing any sign of Tiku. I suspect she's either in another part of the tree where she was yesterday (and where the adult left food for her) or in the tall south cam tree next to it, where the adults perch, but I've never seen them - which may mean they perch higher than the cam can look.

I'm not an eagle, so my thoughts about what a fledgling might do may be totally wrong - but I'm thinking if Tiku planned to go for another flight - she'd go back to the nest to rest up, rather than to the woods where she will probably be exploring soon.

I am out of both cams, and need to step away from the computer for a few minutes.

I did not make a preset for North's current position - if you use the preset for Tiku's former location and pull back carefully then go up you'll get this general view.
