5:29 am in rollback, the adult quickly flew after dropping off the food. Thor continued to eat the prey and could hear Loki in the distance with some squees.

6:17 am in rollback, an adult brings in a prey but I am not sure what it is. Thor quickly comes down from the upper branch to claim the prize.

Good morning!

8:00 am
I see we have a zoomer on South - maybe David.

This is the fledgling on the high perch - Thor?

And this looks like Loki's more mottled leg feathers

Thanks for checking the dvr, Sandy - and this is the season for seal placentas, so we are thinking the bloody stretchy things we're seeing are those.

Another closeup of the one who is eating - hard for me to be sure without seeing the chest, but I think it's Loki.

North embedded cam is very pixelated but I don't want to do anything with it until David is done zooming.

Glad you got videos of their return, gemini - it was great to watch!

Added -

More pictures of Loki's legs.

Also a bit of beak and large crop.

Thor is still on the high perch, and Loki is partly hidden on the east perch/nest supports on the right.

G'morning all :)
For anybody what's interested...I uploaded an hour and a half of the young ones' return to the nest, in three parts. I find Part 2 quite entertaining.

Thanks so much, Bill - nice to have a record of the whole event!

1:13 pm
Thor and Loki seem to be taking it easy today after their adventures yesterday. I think Thor is on the high perch, and Loki is sleeping on the nest.
20200629_012.jpg

And as soon as I typed that, Thor flew down, waking up Loki, and then Thor went to the east perch, while Loki is doing some flapping.
20200629_013.jpg

I thought h/s might go for another flight - but after checking the wind, h/s went up to the high perch.

And then Loki checked out the little branch behind the bend in the trunk, and tried a bit of flapping.
20200629_015.jpg

I did check the dvr, and did not see any visits by adults.

It's now 1:22 pm - and I'll be back in a while.

5:35 pm
I'm seeing one of the fledglings up on the high perch at the bend in the trunk - and don't see the other one. It looks like Thor who is there - and I sort of think Loki may be more adventurous. Off to check the dvr.
20200629_016.jpg

checking the dvr....

3:56 pm
Not sure this is Loki, but sure that he or maybe she is heading out.
20200629_017.jpg

I did get a glimpse before he/she left, though I didn't get a s'cap - and I'm pretty sure it's Loki. Here are big wings, getting ready to go.

It's only 5:51 in BC, and I expect that Sur and/or Res will arrive with food soon - but it's later here in Maine, so I may not stay awake to watch.

I'm not sure if we saw Mom Res yesterday, so if you see an adult on the nest, please post s'caps so we can make sure both of them are coming to the nest.

And please document Loki's return.

Thank you - and good night. :offtobed:

Hello everyone,
Thor was up on the upper branch doing some wingercises.
Annotation 2020-06-29 190725.png
Then Thor flew down to the nest and continuing practicing.
Annotation 2020-06-29 190935.png
Soon after, Loki flew in and there was a flurry of wings a s/he arrived.

Now, two sweet eaglets on the nest.

I haven't seen any visits by adults yet, but there might have been a quick visit.

Whoever had flown out just after 7 pm arrived back at 8:20. Here's a picture of h/h coming in:

S/he promptly went to the perch just off the nest:

After a few minutes, s/he returned to the nest, and the one in the upper branch soon came down to join h/h, looks like they're tucking in for the night:

Still no sign of any adult; I hope they get a good meal in the morning!

Looking back....

6:43 pm Loki's return!

Loki returns from h/h afternoon adventure (:17)

6:46 pm After Loki returns, Thor has a rest and Loki moves to the perch/support
06-29-2020 6-46 pm.jpg

7:03 pm A few minutes later Thor gets up and does some wingers and Loki moves to the branch
06-29-2020 7-03 pm.jpg

12:16 am There have been no visits by a parent tonight - the kids will have to wait until breakfast. Both are sound asleep - Thor standing with head tucked and Loki down on the nest.
06-30-2020 12-16 am.jpg

Thor feels the wind and goes on adventures of h/h own! One at 7:07 pm and then again at 8:14 pm. I think Thor has found a spot he feels comfortable flying to and from.

Good morning, everyone!

With all the excitement yesterday, I'm not sure I remembered to wish Loki a happy hatch day - our younger eaglet was 12 weeks old yesterday!

Thanks for posting, Darlene, Realitia and ostrich - they are so much fun to watch! So happy to see Thor getting comfortable with take-offs and landings after h/h slip while fledging; s/he is looking like a pro now! And Loki seems to be having such fun - thank you for all the videos, gemini and Bill!

Note - I will be away from the computer from about 9 am - 4 pm. If any of you can watch and post observations during that time, that would be great. I will be checking email if you have questions - [email protected]. Thanks!

When I first arrived, Thor was dozing and Loki was standing on the nest.
20200630_001.jpg

And now - 7:21 - Thor is picking at something - not sure what or if it's food.
20200630_002.jpg

off for a quick check of the dvr....

From the dvr....

5:03 am
Both keeping watch. Loki may be the one slightly higher - h/h tail sometimes looks more squared while Thor's sometimes looks more rounded.
20200630_003.jpg

Loki (?) went a little further up the branch, then flew up and over Thor, went to the east perch, and then flew off.
20200630_004.jpg

Thor came down and was picking at leftovers, and an adult arrived at 5:31 am.

Continuing....

Not sure which adult, but breakfast is rabbit.
20200630_007.jpg
20200630_008.jpg

5:59 am
The fledgling has been working on the rabbit without much success - and now that the cam has switched to color, I'm questioning my ID - but so far I've only seen the back of the fledgling on the nest.

6:01 am
Adult is in with a piece of flat fish
20200630_010.jpg

I think this is Res - looks like her eye and collar, and I see a bit of the cowlick.
20200630_011.jpg

Bloody tail - and her feet were also bloody. And I don't know if the black feathered object was there earlier - I'm pretty sure she didn't bring it this time, and I can't imagine it came at the same time as the rabbit, so maybe I just couldn't see it in grayscale.
20200630_012.jpg

Still haven't had a good look at the front of the fledgling to tell who it is.

Continuing....

I think there was another fish delivery at 6:18 - definitely a drop and run that I saw on the South cam; I'm running out of time so not going back to try to get a scap.

6:25 am
The second fledgling just landed (bottom right)
20200630_015.jpg

And immediately dove under and grabbed some part of the food - new arrival mantling on right.
20200630_017.jpg

And that wasn't enough so now the new arrival is going after the rabbit, which the original fledgling had opened and was working on.

Continuing....

Watching these two is a bit like the old shell game - they move very fast with lots of flapping wings - but now that the dust and feathers have settled, the new arrival is on the left standing in the middle of the food - and looks like Loki. And Thor is looking darker on the right.
20200630_018.jpg

There also seems to be one of those bloody seal placenta things on the nest, which is what Loki is eating above.

I think Loki carried the black bird over to the right, and have no clue what Thor is doing.
20200630_019.jpg

There might not have been much left on the bird - so Loki went for the rabbit. Thor, on left, is trying to take it back, and failed.
20200630_020.jpg

Thor is eating something - not sure if s/h pulled part of the rabbit off, or if it's part of one of the fish that came in.

Continuing....

I have to get ready to leave - will just do a few highlights.

Adult there at 6:43 - probably Res because she's feeding one of the fledglings - I think Thor. I don't know if she brought anything.
20200630_021.jpg

Viewer beware - Adult (Sur?) in at 7:31 with a live feisty young gull. Both fledglings were intimidated and pulled back. The adult also backed off and went to work on the rabbit, at which point Loki (on the left below) carefully circled around the gull to chase Sur off the nest.
20200630_022.jpg

The young gull got up and made it to the edge of the nest - and one of the adults arrived and finished it off.
20200630_023.jpg

I know Loki got some of it, and think Thor did too.

It's now 8:30, and both well-fed fledglings are standing on the edge of the nest. Not surprisingly, Loki chose the spot nearest the food.

I need to go - please post if you're watching. Thanks!
