7:32 pm
Sur arrived on the side of the nest, Res called a few times then got up and flew off. Sur took over incubation.

Good night everyone (though I have my iPad and will peek in if I wake up during the night).

7:46 pm
Res is back moving around on the nest; Sur is ignoring her, and continuing to incubate the eggs.

And one of them just flew off while I was typing - I’m not fast or accurate on my phone. I see a lot of white upper tail so I think Res is back on the eggs after her evening break.

Good very early morning, everyone, and thanks for starting our day, nightowl.

I tried to look back on the dvr, and around 11:27 (I think) she rolled the eggs and I saw two. She seems to have been sleeping since then, or was at least in the same position as I jumped to a new spot on the timeline.

And speaking of sleeping, :offtobed:

Hi everyone! And I think you're right, Bev, about it being Sur - I just looked back on the dvr, and it looks as if he's been there for at least the last two hours, since about 1:15 pm. I noticed him getting up and turning the eggs three times during that time (including once just now). He did give a bit of a call when he was up around 3:15 - so perhaps he's ready for a break!

6:29 pm
Sur did a bit of calling, then got up and flew off. I can hear him (or one of them) continuing to call in the distance.

6:34 pm
Someone is back - I think it is Res - I saw the little dark spot/shadow on top of her head as she landed, and I don't see the dark spots in the upper tail that Sur has.
20190314_002.jpg

I am also noticing that the end of her tail is looking a bit dirty, and I don't remember seeing that before.

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for posting the weather, Bev, and thanks to you and Marg for the morning reports.

I was watching for a while but forgot to bring the scrap of paper with my notes. I started watching around 6:30 am, and I think Res flew off once and returned a few minutes later, and continued to incubate for a while, then she flew off and Sur arrived.

8:09 am
I think this is Sur, based on the dark areas in the upper tail. He was calling a few minutes ago, and is now digging in the nest and settling in.

Added - just saw your post, Bev, and I agree. :)

Wow - I don't know what Sur saw or heard, but he just slapped his wings down to cover the whole nest.
20190314_005.jpg

Maybe I just figured this out - I see a brave but foolish black squirrel behind Sur - he or she might have popped up where Dad could see him. See branch at the lower right in the picture below.
20190314_006.jpg

Sur brought his wings back in, then did another slap on the nest, and is now back to normal incubating position - but I think he has his eagle eye on someone.
20190314_007.jpg

And I just saw the squirrel on the far side of the trunk of the tree at the left edge of the screen.

9:09 am
Sur is still partly on alert.
20190314_008.jpg

I haven't seen the little squirrel for a few minutes - perhaps he has decided this is a good time to stay below nest level for a little while.

And I just saw movement in the lower part of the nest where Sur's tail is - and Sur just moved forward so he can look over the edge a bit more - so it might be that both squirrels are around, though I've only seen the black one.
20190314_009.jpg

9:14 am
Dad up and flapping! I worry about the eggs, though he seems to be careful. Didn't see the squirrel.
20190314_010.jpg

He did some calling - maybe asking for reinforcements - and is now back down on the eggs.

Things have been calm since my last post (I may have missed a few moments but have been watching most of the time).

Sur is still on duty, looking around - and looking fierce! I think the squirrel has decided to check for little scraps on the nest at another time.
20190314_011.jpg

12:05 pm
Sur was doing some calling - maybe he's getting ready for a break.

12:29 pm
Sur was calling, then up and off.
20190314_013.jpg

I think this is Res who arrived at 12:30 and immediately took over incubation.

Thanks, Jean! I'm 3000 miles away, and I jumped when he did that!

1:32 pm
Res was just calling, then got up to tend the eggs. She's now back down and looking around.

1:53 pm
Res just quietly got up and flew off. I did a bit of looking around with the South cam - there are a lot of buildings out there - but also a whole lot of trees, and I have no idea where she went.

1:58 pm
I think this is Sur who just arrived to take over.

Sur up and off.

Someone arrived a minute or two later but the cam is pixelated so I don’t know who. Initial guess is Res, and I’ll try to check when I’m done with my dinner.

Good catch Marg, you got them in the middle of a COG! Your top scap is Sur and bottom one is Res. Sur left at 7:27 pm and Res cam in at 7:30Pm.

Res is still on the eggs at 8:52 pm
