gretchen_AEF (Admin): TUESDAY Tuck-In:
Our Spirit was perched several times at the nest and at length today . . . even in the pouring rain! Tomorrow promises to be better weather in the Hamlet with sunshine on the way. We saw Spirit at tuck tonight, and then about 4:25pm he flew but soon returned. He was quite vocal off-site, but we couldn't locate him. He's likely perched at the nest tonight but out of cam sight. Sky hasn't been seen since Sunday morning. She may have gone her merry way or possibly going to return again.

tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Good afternoon on this beautiful dry day in the Hamlet! It's 12:15, and our sweet Spirit is having a snack of nestovers from his awesome breakfish this morning!
Apr 11, 1:39 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Spirit saw something that interested him, and flew with a beautiful take off at 12:35.

Apr 11, 1:51 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Wow, chase in progress! Juliet flew in at 12:45, chasing a squirrel, who gave her a run for her money!! Spirit came flying back in on her tail to try to help with the hunt! This one got away, though!

Apr 11, 2:29 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Juliet is perched on the Sunset branch, and Spirit is telling her all about it on the nest. Spirit flew off at 1:25.

Apr 11, 2:35 PM
sharipf_AEF (Moderator): Great job following the action Tweetie! Watch as one lucky squirrel narrowly avoids becoming Spirit's next meal! https://youtu.be/lPI5UNHN89w

Apr 11, 3:05 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): 2:00, Juliet leaves her perch and heads down to the nest to finish off the nestovers, she doesn't like to waste food!
Apr 11, 3:25 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): 2:20, Juliet flew to Lookout Point, hesitant to leave food on the nest, but wanting to leave some for Spirit for later. She finally flew at 2:25.

Apr 11, 3:50 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): 2:48, our sweet vocal (lol!) Spirit returns to the nest for some yummy nestovers! Mom knew he would be hungry later as he always is!
Apr 11, 4:01 PM
tweetie_AEF (Moderator): And Spirit flew off once more at 3:00, so much to do!

Apr 11, 5:31 PM

LisaS_AEF (Moderator): Good Evening, Romeo, Spirit and Fish arrive at the Hamlet 6:35 pm.
Apr 11, 8:45 PM
LisaS_AEF (Moderator): Juliet arrived home for a little while. I thought with all of Spirit's squees Sky would come home but not yet. R&J fly off, maybe to check on Sky. Spirit is currently trying to hide behind the branch on Cam 2.

LisaS_AEF (Moderator): Romeo arrived back at the nest 6:03 pm as to let Spirit know it was time to leave for the night.

gretchen_AEF (Admin): WEDNESDAY Tuck-In: Arriving at the nest tonight Spirit was there and reasonably quiet. When mom later flew in, he was loud as loud can be. Once she had enough, she flew. I last saw Spirit's wing from the back-side of the nest, so he may still be perched there out of cam view. Checking out the Sleeping Tree, we found both mom and dad perched. When we left they were perched side by side. SED Y'all

THURSDAY , APRIL 12 , 2018

Good Afternoon NEFL eagle family and all .

12:20pm']
Nest is empty

From Cam chat
squee_AEF (Moderator): Good morning everybirdy! temps now are in the low 50's with areas of fog; Thursday's Hamlet forecast looks like we'll have mostly sunny skies with temps in the low 70's and winds at 10-15 mph. Enjoy the day and keep your eyes to the skies! ♥

Apr 12, 6:43 AM
jd_AEF (Moderator): Good morning! I am seeing the usual shadows but if Spirit is there he is tucked in tight to the nest where he likes to hide. We will likely see some movement soon as light improves.
Apr 12, 7:45 AM
squee_AEF (Moderator): Well, lol. I took a shot in the dark(literally) and I was wrong.

Apr 12, 8:25 AM
jd_AEF (Moderator): 7:20 am Spirit visits the nest, checks out the nestovers and decides to head back out for fresh fish

Apr 12, 12:26 PM
cyn_AEF (Admin): Spirit is back! Juliet also there perched behind nest. He kept squeeing for breakfast so mom left and he took off after her, lol. Spirit is back home again by himself this time at almost 9:45. Spirit leaves at 10:19. Peek a boo Spirit! We found you hiding behind cam 2! On to nest then Lookout Point. 11:12 Spirit off again. 11:25 back!

aka_AEF (Moderator): Good afternoon Hamlet Peeps! Spirit flew off a short while ago after his dinner delivery service request was denied. I think I hear him squeeing in the distance so he will probably be back very soon!

Apr 12, 9:02 PM
babyhawk_AEF (Moderator): Spirit was last seen today, several times coming to the nest, and flying off. Juliet was here with Spirit one of those times. Juliet was also here this evening, eating some of the leftover fish. Sky has not been seen since Sunday morning when she flew off early in the morning.

Apr 12, 10:05 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): THURSDAY Tuck-In:
Your ground crew was unavailable to tuck tonight, but Juliet made an appearance at the nest tonight. I believe residents near the nest reported R&J roosting at the Sleeping Tree. Spirit came barreling in complete with typical vocals announcing from a distance he was arriving. He was in and out and off just before noon. He may return or may be on his way taking advantage of this beautiful weather. I know it's bittersweet, but it's time, and he is ready. . .bittersweet for me too. <3

gretchen_AEF (Admin): FRIDAY Tuck-in:
Your ground crew tucked Romeo or Juliet in at the Sleeping Tree tonight after 8pm. It was too dark to know which one. Juliet paid a visit to the nest and perched for a bit this morning prior to chat. Other than that, it was a quiet nest today. Romeo and Juliet will be around and seen for awhile. The kids may be on their way enjoying the skies like they were meant to do. It's possible they could return for a brief visit. Sky was last seen Sun morning and Spirit was last seen yesterday/.

What a beautiful tribute video from Birdbrain. Sky and Spirit were such buddies that I thought they might even disperse together. Be safe and be careful, you two as your explore a big new world. Thank you for the joy and laughter that you brought us during this spectacular season.

I would have to agree with you Bev on that comment. From the good weather, very little if any bonking, plentiful food, less owl activity and of course two adorable rascals. Who could ask for more from these great parents and the great and steadfast group of observers that watch and love this nest. Good all the way around.

Enjoy the day and keep your eyes to the skies! ♥ Sky has been gone for 1 week as of today ♥

Apr 15, 8:23 AM
jd_AEF (Moderator): 7:22 am Romeo arrives with a stick Good morning!

Apr 15, 8:24 AM
jd_AEF (Moderator): And Juliet arrives right behind him. Time to get busy!
Apr 15, 8:26 AM

Apr 15, 3:36 PM
otd_AEF (Moderator): It has been a quiet day at our NEFL nest. No eagles and obviously no squeeing from our Spirit for food delivery. Both Spirit and Sky are venturing out. They have great "roots" from Romeo and Juliet and will do well. *** Bless our sweet eaglets/fledglings.

leigh_AEF (Moderator): Good evening everyone! There was a huge rainstorm today in the Hamlet today. Romeo and Juliet haven't been back since this morning when they started cleaning up after Sky and Spirit. They are no doubt tucked somewhere dry. Once again I have to say what a wonderful season this has been. We have been so blessed to watch our sweet family . Please join us for chat tomorrow at 8 a.m. SED's everyone!

Apr 15, 9:55 PM
gretchen_AEF (Admin): SUNDAY Tuck-In: Given the current weather conditions in the Hamlet, it was certain Romeo and Juliet are tucked away out of the vicious wind and rain. Therefore it was futile to tuck. Tomorrow will be a coolor day with lots of sunshine. It's likely they will show up at the nest in the morning. Their nest appearances will be infrequent, but they will probably remain in the area for a few more weeks. Please join our final morning chat tomorrow at 8am and our final chat for the season Tues nite. SED

It was wonderful to chat with you all last evening! ♥ temps now are in the low 50's with light winds; Wednesday's Hamlet forecast will have lots of sunshine today with temps in the low 80's and winds at 5-10 mph. Enjoy the day and keep your eyes to the skies! ♥

jd_AEF (Moderator): If you are just getting up now, you may have missed some of the special moments of the season that happen in the nighttime and early morning hours. This video captures some of those family moments in black and white: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k5puRoNSHs&t=8s

cyn_AEF (Admin): Juliet got tired of waiting for Romeo to bring a stick, so she got it herself!

tweetie_AEF (Moderator): Good afternoon, it's another gorgeous day in the Hamlet! Earlier, some large birds could be seen soaring on cam 2 off in the distance, maybe our parents, or some friends of theirs.

tweetie_AEF (Moderator): It seems that Romeo & Juliet have lots of good sticks and lumber & some nice moss left in the nest, so they should have a great start for next season! Rocky & his squirrel buddies may not leave many pine cones though!
