Glacier Gardens Eagles, Juneau Alaska - 2022 Season

An eagle landed on the nest at approx. 4pm this afternoon. It looked like Mama; she called a few times, looked around then flew off after only a couple of minutes.

Here is the link to Glacier Gardens video of today's morning and afternoon visits. We got to see Mama, then Papa, then Mama again! Papa brought a fish gift; Mama did not return to receive it, so Papa ate most of it. He took the leftover with him when he flew, so he may have been going to find Mama to present it to her.

8:30AM. Mama visits the nest tree, flying in to the CBCT branch. Check out those tail feathers!

8:35AM. Papa flew in seconds after Mama left.

And look! Yay! Food gift!

Papa sat on and guarded the for a long time.

The fish looks like it is over half eaten. The food gift is now a snack gift.

10:16AM. Papa takes flight with the fish tail section. He may be going to find Mama to present it to her.

Hi Androcat, thanks for posting all of your s'caps of Mama & Papa's visits to the nest today I'm having the darndest time trying to figure out approx. times when there is no date stamp on the live streaming video. Did Papa stay for approx. an hour and a half this morning? I wanted to let you know that I record my own videos and snip s'caps from them. Dee does a great job of documenting the actions at the nest with her videos but I don't ever snip s'caps from anyone else's videos. I use a program called FlashBack Pro 5 and it is fantastic I'm looking forward to another season of watching Mama & Papa and hopefully an eaglet or two

Hi sassyk! I finally got the times from the visits this morning straight (I think). That was actually about 1 hr 45 minutes (+/-) between Mama's quick stop and Papa leaving. It is hard to figure out the times, but Violette will be adding a time clock/logo soon. I am going to try to get some of the viewers to enter the "time" bot command when they see a visit, so we have a closer approximate time until we get a time clock on the cam.

I run my own recordings/take my own scaps of the feed for what I post also. Thank you for sharing the program you use. I will check that out!

We see nest building activity soon. The fish gift was a great start!

Androcat, that is indeed good news re a time stamp on the live feed A lot of us have been asking for it and it will make it much less time consuming trying to scroll back to find the action someone has posted about Many thanks to Violette and the folks at Glacier Gardens for allowing us to watch the eagles nesting at the gardens

Hi SassyK, Deeagle, Androcat . Thanks so much for all of the s’caps and videos y’all are doing here. I knew this nest would be in good hands even with Journi’s departure. I am so glad a time stamp will be added to the live feed; definitely needed. I hope to stop in and contribute occasionally too. The beauty of this nest area is breathtaking..

12:21PM. Mama prepares to leave. (The leaving scap was so blurry, it wasn't worth using; I was hoping for a beautiful tail feather shot. )

If you are not familiar with how it looks when an eagle lands on or leaves the cam tree, make sure to catch Mama leaving in Dee's video. Mama and Papa (and their fledglings in the past) use the cam tree as a perch tree. You will see the cam shake when the eagles land/take off there. Papa was likely perched there, and left with Mama, as we can see the "shake".
