From EC--At one week old, Fern showed us how big she is getting!

It's amazing the difference a week can make! Fern woke from a nap when Abby got up to switch out with Blaze. In the couple minutes in between Abby & Blaze, Fern took the opportunity to stretch and move around and show us how big s/he has gotten! All the while, Thunder just slept right on!

From Eagle Country ---Both Fern & Thunder ate a great afternoon meal!
Today was a beautiful day in Eagle Country and Fern & Thunder enjoyed a great afternoon meal! It was fun to watch and sometimes it's just good to know crops are full! Blaze & Abby are doing good keeping the eaglets fed!

Tuesday, March 8
Older Fern is 25 days old, younger Thunder is 22 days old.

Adult arrived with some food around 5:53 pm.

One of the chicks is being fed - and my initial impression was that it was the older chick.

But the other one seems to have a plump crop as well.

Watching a bit longer, I think my first impression was correct because the one eating put the other one into submission when the smaller one tried to approach.

6:17 pm
Younger one in the back is trying to find a way to get close to the adult, but so far every time they have tried to approach, the older one gave "the look" and the little one backed off.

This has been a good feeding for the larger one, and I'm hoping they will back off for a nap soon.

6:23 pm
The adult moved with the food to another part of the nest, but the larger chick followed, so the younger one still hasn't had any bites.

6:31 pm
Meal is over. I didn't see the smaller one get any bites this time, but they both have plump crops, so I'm hoping all is well.

Just peeked in - they are looking good! The eaglets are about 8-1/2 weeks old.

We have been thrilled with how the season progressed with Abby, Blaze, Fern & Thunder. It was great to see Abby & Blaze successfully rear Fern & Thunder to fledging and beyond!
We will be closing EC for the season this evening (7.1.22) as it appears that Fern & Thunder have made their flight out into their own adventures.
