Another pretty quiet day out there yesterday with just some afternoon clouds, all the activity remained east of our area over the high desert and near the Colorado River. A southerly flow is responsible for filtering in some drier air, which will bring temperatures up a bit, cooling over the weekend as deeper monsoon moisture returns. Expect partly cloudy skies out there today with a few afternoon build ups, an isoated shower or rumble of thunder is possible with highs in the upper 70's, south to southwest winds 5-10mph. High pressure will re-position over the Four Corners tomorrow drawing additional mid and lower level moisture from the east for an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoons. Storms could be fairly widespread Saturday and at times next week as a couple of easterly waves traverse the region, possibly even firing off a few nocturnal storms. Temperatures will remain a little below average with highs in the mid to lower 70's as lows drop into the 50's. At this time, it looks like scattered afternoon thundershowers will hang around through at least the middle of next week, the monsoon flow is here to stay, varying in coverage from day to day. Always remember to head indoors when thunder roars as some storms may be capable of producing very heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds, frequent lightning and hail.
