Here are updates from my last report of 11/15:

11/29/2020 - one adult was seen on the nest....appeared to be incubating the egg(s) - I will need to check to see if I had pictures from this visit.

12/6/2020 - unfortunately during my visit, I could not see an adult on the nest....I assume they were there but just could not see them due to the sides of the nest coming up so high.....it is very deceiving as it does not appear to be that deep, but must be if an adult cannot be seen.

12/13/2020 - It was hard to see but there was an adult on the nest....could just barely see the top of their head at times. I will need to pull my pictures of this visit from my camera but there's not really much to see but a little bit of white. Their mate did not come to the nest during our visit this day.

On Monday, 12/21, we went to visit the nest and saw one adult in the incubating position on the nest. Can just see the top of their head here.

Also noticed their mate on another light post and caught them just when they were flying off

12/21 - continued- the adult flew around for quite a few minutes and was joined by a couple hawks but at one point I thought a young eagle joined them. Unfortunately they were too far away to really capture them clearly on my camera, but here are a few more of the adult as they flew around.

12/21 - these next pictures don’t really have anything to do with this particular nest but I added a new nest to my list and was hoping I would be able to setup another thread to report on that one but it seems the eagles have not come back there and the person I report to said it was not a successful season last season so it’s possible they may have found another place to nest. They were on a large cell tower last year which is located in an industrial park area north of the Caloosa School nest and actually closer to the SWFL nest than the Caloosa School nest is.

In any case, while we were at this tower we got out to walk around to see if maybe the eagles had gone to some other trees nearby, we didn’t see them but we did come across what I think was a red-shouldered hawk. Not sure s/he liked us being so close but we got some good pictures of h/h so I thought I would share them.

12/21 - and after about 5 minutes or so of tolerating us, the hawk flew off and luckily we were able to get a few of their take off. I wasn’t sure what was captured as they left so quickly, but once I was able to download the shots to my phone and view them on a bigger screen I was so shocked to see that a few of them came out pretty good. This bird was beautiful and makes me think I need to get out more often with my camera and search around for more Hawks.

Good Morning! We did not do our regular Sunday visit on 12/27/2020 due to the holidays but did visit the nest this past Sunday....here are my notes from the visit:

1/3/2021 - When we got to the nest we saw one adult up on the nest sitting/standing there. With all of the nests, once the adults are incubating the eggs they are so low in the nest that it is very difficult to see them most times. Today was one of those days. Now, not sure if there was another adult on the nest incubating but we did not see even the slightest hint of a white head down low so thinking this one just sitting there was the only one there and due to the weather being so nice they were sitting up off the eggs to give them some fresh air. The adult did not move much...just looking around the area as there were quite a few hawks flying around. That's it for this visit, we did not see the other adult and this one adult just stayed in the same position during our entire visit.....with a little birdie friend on the left light.

1/10/2021 nest visit.......so we went to the nest today....and sometime prior to this visit something went off in my head to tell me that we should have been looking for little bobble heads because....if I had read back on my notes, on our 11/15 visit I thought the female was laying an egg.....so.....if I had calculated from that date, that egg would have hatched the week of Christmas......so I will now have to go back through some of the pictures I took and examine them a lot closer to see if there was anything popping up that I may have missed.........

In any case, guess what??? There were two bobble heads on the nest during our visit yesterday!!! Yay!!! :hatch: :hatch:

I will guess, based on my 11/15 date that these two could be 2 1/2 weeks old.....Wow, is that possible? So here are some of the pictures....the first two are when we first got to the nest

1/10/2021 nest visit cont'd......And after being at the nest for about 10 minutes and just as I was getting ready to take more shots......here comes one of the adults....no food that I could see though but the eaglets popped up just in case it was feeding time

I was surprised to see that the eaglets were left alone this early in their development but I guess the adult was close by and was able to see the nest.

Just a note that I sent an email to my contact, Justin at Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife to let him know that there were two babies seen at the nest.....he informed me that to his knowledge, these are the first two eaglets to hatch this season in Cape Coral.

Good Morning! We visited the nest yesterday and were able to see both adults....but unfortunately it must have been nap time for the chicks as we did not see them even pop their heads up. Was so hoping to see them and see how much they have grown in the past week.....may have to sneak over there tonight....maybe at dinnertime to see if we can catch a feeding.

Here are some pictures from our visit:

1/17/2021:

As we were pulling up my husband thought he saw one of the adults just flying in...if that is the case it would have been the one here on the nest. I think they may have brought a stick in as they were moving one around here.
Caloosa 1-17-2021.jpg
After a few minutes of checking things out on the nest, that adult....who I think is the male (based on size), came up on the nest rail and then flew to the left light

1/17/2021 visit cont'd:

One more of the adult flying up onto the light...you would think that surface would be slippery, but he had no problems landing there.
Caloosa 1-17-2021c.jpg
Not much happened after that...both adults stayed on their lights as we just watched them and around the area for about 20 minutes or so. Really thought the male was getting ready to leave a couple times but he just started preening just before we left so assume he was staying for a bit.

1/24/2021 - I haven't had a chance to post pictures from last Sunday's nest visit.....only one adult seen, and when we first got there that is all we saw...then...one of the eaglets popped up...showing their tail end and then could see one of their heads, but never saw two heads pop up at the same time....hoping all is well with the 2nd eaglet as we did see them a couple weeks ago.......

1/24/2021 visit continued.....The one eaglet was standing up here...and the Adult seemed to be leaning down to check on the other....just a guess here based on their position....and hoping they were just resting.
Caloosa 1-24-2021c.jpg
The one eaglet stayed up for a bit...watching everything the adult was watching....so cute! Can see the eaglet is grey in color with that little tuft of white on top of his/her head.
Caloosa 1-24-2021d.jpg
That's it for this visit....the little eaglet eventually had laid down and was out of sight for the rest of the visit. The other adult was not seen on this day.

1/30/2021 visit - We went to see the eagles on Saturday this week.....went later in the day and was happy to see quite a few of them out as it was a nice day. Both adults were at the nest today, both perched on the outside lights....and we did see one of the eaglets. Seems to be growing so quickly....estimating they are about 5 1/2 weeks old now (hatched sometime around 12/23....basing this on the date that I thought I saw the female laying an egg).

Only a few pictures this week as the sun was not in the best place for capturing great shots....and no one was actually moving around much. Also want to mention that this is the 2nd week...or maybe even the 3rd week where we have not seen the 2nd eaglet. On 1/24 we only saw one eaglet....and on 1/17 we actually didn't see either eaglet so was hoping on 1/24 that we would see both and at least on 1/30 would see both but still now only seeing one. Last week on 1/24 the one eaglet was up and I think I remember that one of the adults was on the nest and seemed to be leaning down towards where I would think the other eaglet was. Maybe they were sick at that time but we never saw even the top of their head. Anyway, thinking there may only be one remaining eaglet on this nest.

Adults on the lights on the left and right....eaglet in the middle, on the nest.

The adult on the right seems to be doing a crop drop here

All three just looking around
