DNN 2019-2020 Season by Gail Mitchell Celebrating DN12
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEJN3lnjGt0
And a last watch to little DN11
As you can see these two , Mom DNF and Dad DN don't know what to do except rest now
During 120 days they were searching for food and they were protecting the area againqt intruders for ND12
at least 40 days before they were brooooding two eggs
and still before they were protecting their nest so at least 6 months or more of hard work and they used to do that every years
Today they have only to take care of themselves and it seems they are not o well prepare to do it, like us who are not prepare to let go ND12 who is already away.
Both stayed there a very long moment, a couple of hours...
around 18h30

Half Way There!
Half Way There!
Thank you so much to those of you who have donated - and wow, we are making great progress!
When I started thinking about this post, I was thinking that Loki and probably Thor from Surrey Reserve were up north feasting on salmon, and Shadow from Delta 2 and Quebec from White Rock were getting ready to go - which sounded like a great start for a halfway there post.
But there's a chance that Shadow and Quebec are faster than I am, and also more motivated by free salmon - so let's just assume they aren't quite up north with Loki and Thor, but on their way.
And I want to honor the fledgling that may have taken a different path. Sunny from the Delta 2 nest never returned after his/her unplanned slip from the nest. It's likely something bad happened - but it's also possible that Sunny couldn't find his/her home nest - but found another nest with adults who could provide a few more days of support, which is all Sunny would need; a nearby nest where only one chick had been seen had two shortly after Sunny left Delta 2. It's a long shot - but maybe.
So - two fledglings maybe up north - two maybe on the way or maybe going to pop in for breakfast in the morning - and one taking a different route, hopefully happy but maybe on the far side of the rainbow bridge.
So - we are halfway to our goal of $10,000 - which will help us replace two cams at White Rock (we have the cams - thanks, Russ! - but need a lift and a team to get them installed), replace the domes and hopefully upgrade the internet service at Surrey Reserve, replace the domes and cut back some of the little forest that has grown up to block the view of the nest at Delta 2, and figure out why the South cam keeps going offline at Harrison Mills.
Our oldest cams are at White Rock and Harrison Mills, and this is why we want to replace the closeup cam at White Rock; these two screenshots are thanks to amyklai. This is the old cam: and this is a newer cam - and the type of view we hope to have:
Because we haven't been able to work on the cams at White Rock for a couple of years, it's our top priority. And if we want to do everything on our wish list at the other nests - we need some more help.
It is wonderful that we are making such great progress - and please, if you can, help us make it the rest of the way.
