 Good morning!

0940-0954 E15 on attic, resting foot and watchful. E15 seems to have lost her sense of adventure,
maybe due to lack of confidence. We hardly see her exploring and soaring.
Sure is quite interesting to watch.

Thank you for responding. It is very intriguing to watch and wonder. I have noticed that she/he stays at the tree almost 24/7 now. I hope nothing is wrong. :luck:

Feel better and soar soon, E15!! :rh:

I'm new to eagle watching and I've been just addicted to this season. I've tried to do some research on my own, but I can't seem to find anything. Does any vet eagle watcher know why E15 would come back to the nest tree after being gone for about a week? Also, he/she mantles towards the adults a lot. Is it a possibility of a "child" running parents off of a nest tree and taking over? Is that something that ever happens in nature/with eagles? I'm super curious about all of this.

Thanks to any that can help with insight! :)

Hi wareaglewatcher, sure is easy to get addicted to watching these eagles!! we all know the feeling :rh: . i dont think anyone knows what or why E15 is doing anything this year. As long as i watched, and from all i have heard said, this is unusual. Then again this whole year 2020 has been most unusal. Im just kind of happy to being able to still watch E15. Thank you Pritchett family !!
:eag: WarEagleWatcher - Hi and Welcome to the forum! :grhug:

Remember...This is the first ever second clutch at this nest, so we are seeing many different things. E15 might just need a little more time before leaving the area. E15 seems fine...
We'll just have to watch to see what happens. ~Journi

Thanks for the great scaps, Suemac. The last one is picture perfect ... wings, head & neck beautifully aligned. Would make a great graduation picture if she was moving on, which happily she doesn't appear to be. :D

Hi there! We really don't have any idea why E15 is still in the nest area. In my nearly 16 years of observing many eagle nests I have never seen this before. A real puzzle. When you see E15 mantling towards the parents she most likely is hoping they have food for her in their talons. E15 is much to young to even be thinking of taking over any eagle nest let alone her parents'. She will be mature at about 5 years old when she starts to think about looking for a nest. I'm sure that you are aware that eagles don't "live" in their nests---they are used only for laying eggs and raising the eaglets. Hope this helps a little. MaryF :thumlft:

Mary and I are always here to help out! MaryF really knows eagles and she is the one who started this Hancock Wildlife (HW) SWFEC Forum thread many years ago!
Also, when Season 9 starts (around Oct 1), be sure to check out the Live Chat on the Pritchett's website where they discuss many facts about eagles. You will learn a lot about eagles from the SWFEC Mods there!
Again...Thank you for joining the HW SWFEC Forum! Have a good day! ~Journi

Hi Mary F. :bye 1: wouldn't it be something if E15, decides to hang around for 4-5 more years! :w00t:
I hope Harriet doesn't decided to just make a new nest. I have many hypothesis going through my mind, but will not say. This is the no worry zone. Trust the eagles, right. Have a great day.

LOL loveinnature---somehow I don't think the Harriet and M15 would appreciate it if E15 stayed around that long.

lovinnature- as much as I would love to see E15 stick around, I agree with Mary F that Harriet and M ( maybe not as much)
would have a problem with it. Just enjoying E15 for as long as she does stay with us.
