Good morning Bev, Androcat, Marianne, and Kenai. For comparison purposes here are two photoS of the empty nest 2019 (April 26) and post season 2020. Although they did some rebuilding, the nest was ultimately not used by Aurora and Redoubt in 2019. This is one of the last nest photos taken before the cam was turned off. Hopefully Aurora and a new partner will return and rebuilding in 2021. Thank you City of Kenai for this, prior years, and in anticipation of next year.

:vid: Here is a video by LadyDeeagle55 showing Denali flying by in the nest tree area. Thank you Dee. Scaps below. Enjoy :) .

Good Morning Kenai Eagle family, Bev, Baita, and Kitcat. 🌞

We did not see Aurora or Denali on the nest tree in cam view 8-23-2020. My opinion is Denali flew through the nest tree area on 8-23 @ 15:33:24, post with scaps and video above.

*️⃣Aurora was last on cam view 8-18 @ 10:40, leaving the nest tree. Denali was last on cam view 8-19 @ 10:12:49, leaving our view after fledging. Ground picture posted of Denali on 8-21, perched on top of a tree.*️⃣

Good Morning everyone ....... I woke up to some pictures from my contact[ :) \

Denali and Aurora are near the nest and Denali appears to be accomplished at flying judging by the trees she is in. The first picture is taken Thursday, August 20th at 8pm. She/he is approximately 50 feet from the nest. The other pictures were taken Friday at 3pm. Aurora and Denali are fairly near the nest in two trees beside each other. It looks as though Aurora has a fish. They are doing well and continue to amaze us after such a traumatic season! Enjoy! I will try to get more pictures.

Welcome to the forum, Bettie - and thanks for stopping by, Elaine!

I'm happy to see pictures of Denali out doing eagle things - thanks to all who made that possible!

It does seem that when there is only one fledgling on a nest, the fledgling doesn't have as much incentive to return to the nest than if there was a sibling still being fed there - so while I'm sorry that we didn't get to see Denali on the camera (yet!) - I'm not surprised. And I'm glad there are people in the area keeping an eye on him/her!

Thank you Bev and your contact for the wonderful pictures of Aurora and Denali. It is great to see them perched so close together and doing so well. Wonder where Aurora’s suitor went? It would be wonderful if Redoubt came back next season but if not ( which is doubtful I guess), Aurora finds a new mate. Only time will tell. :grhug:
