If you all think Simba is so ill. Don't you have a obligation to call the rescue team for this area to help him out. Nothing much good said about him .
Then challenge the keepers of the nest. Is he functioning correctly for his age is he supposed to be doing something differentfor how many weeks old he is ? What is it you want done or diferent. Is it that you want this eagle family to deal with the unexpected death of their eaglet differently. Do you want the nest swept clean. If you think is ill don't you think the keepers of the nest be notified.or the rescue team be notified. Not sure why so negative comments.

Today Simba is 8 weeks old.

Good morning Maddy, Merianne, Philjo, and all Big Bear eagle viewers. Thank you so much for the night reports Maddy and Philjo.

Eagleslanding I've no doubt that IWS is keeping a very good eye on Simba. They even zoomed in to look at him yesterday from his head to his talons.

Weather for today looks like yet another hot one for the eagles. 5:25 am Simba is still sleeping.

5:37 am I checked the rollback. Mrs BB left the exit branch at 5:13 am. So she hasn't been gone long. Hope she brings back a fish while it's still cool at the nest. Simba is still asleep.
5:42 am Simba got up for a PS. Then back to resting.

6:28 am Sun beams are blocking the view. Simba peeps now and then. Sure hope one of his parents bring back a fish this morning.

6:38 am Simba is up to do a bit of preening. Looks around a little bit. Back to resting. He's been doing some soft peeping.

Thank you Rita. I know IWS they are a great educated group for these wonderful eagles in this area of the country. They recently banded at this nest. I understand this is a special nest as it is in a national forest at a high elevation in the mountains. Where eagles do not usually nest. Perhaps the microphone from the nest pick up the music for us to hear the eagles and the surrounding sounds but not for the eagles to hear
the elevated noises the microphone is picking up and broadcasting to us. Simba is sweet and adorable. But I think all is ok. Its a good day in the neighborhood for you simba. With 2 loving parents. Who lost a baby up so high in the mountains. The late mountain snow of California took you away cookie. But we still have you simba. This is not a normal nesting area for eagles. But they are doing well. And the nest is being cleaned by the bugs The parents I can see wish to keep cookie as part of the nest. And along with that come the bugs. Are these bugs harmful to simba who cannot leave the nest yet. I don't know. But he looks ok to me.

6:56 am Better view of Simba now that the sun is at a better angle. He is still resting. Lots of lovely small bird calls and songs this morning.

7:04 am Can see that the nest is getting a light wind now. Since it's going to be another hot day at the nest this is probably a good thing. Simba is screeing now and then. He might be talking to the little birds that are around. Some of them sound very close.

Simba is up. Went over closer to the exit branch side. He's doing some preening and calling out now and then.

7:11 am Simba is doing a good of preening this morning.

7:12 am He's too close to the edge. 7:14 am Mrs BB lands with a stick. We need food and not sticks Mrs BB!

7:16 am She picked at flies and moved Cookie slightly. Simba is telling her he wants breakfast. She hops up on the left branch.
