Re: Redding, CA - 2019 + 2020 - Bald Eagle Cam
Barbara & I ventured into the Swamp Viewing Spot this morning! The water in the Pond was above our knees a few times as we walked along the edge of the Pond, but we made it without getting too wet! We really wanted to see Hope so we went for it!
They are still releasing a lot of water out of Shasta & Keswick Dam 10,500 cubic feet per second(cfs) so there isn't a dry spot for us to set up in anymore at the viewing spot! (There isn't a current so it isn't dangerous, it's just wetter than we would prefer!)
Hope was up in the Nest Tree when we got there around 9am & she hopped/flew down to the nest about 3 times & then back up to her high spot in the tree!
She wasn't very visible when she got up to her high spot, but I got a few shots of her when she landed in the nest. She spread her wings out & they are just huge!!!!
We didn't see Liberty or Guardian but one or both of them could've been perched in the trees nearby & we just couldn't spot them!
This eaglet is getting so close to fledging folks!!! Hope will be 12 weeks old on Sunday June 14th!!!

Hi Judy & Phil!
Yes we are anxiously waiting for our Hope to take flight!
A Thunderstorm is coming through our area so the wind was really picking up this afternoon! Hope was laying down in the nest for most of the time so she must sense the change in weather!
I'll get back down there tomorrow & check on her!

Hope is getting up higher & higher on branches in the Nest Tree!
It won't be long now before she takes her first flight into one of the nearby trees!!!
I was able to spot her on a branch above the nest from the 44 Trail through an opening in the leaves!
Guardian was at the nest with Hope for several hours this morning & early afternoon! He was keeping a close watch on his soon to be fledgling! This is Guardian's first offspring so this is all new to him!

Guardian did a nice wing stretch on both wings while he sat up there on his lookout post...

Hi Terri,
Oh my gosh! Hope is beautiful!!! She looks perfect perched in the tree. Also looks in great condition. So happy for you! Liberty and Guardian did an amazing job with her. I'm going to get caught up on your video's now. I do check this thread all the time. Thank you so much for posting all of this Terri. Take care.

Hi Rita & Phil & All!
We couldn't be happier to see our Hope take to the skies!!!!!
I am working on getting a video of her actually flying!
I wasn't able to get out there today because we did a release of an eaglet who fell out of another nest that I monitor yesterday & we are doing a 2nd eaglet release today!
It has been raining eaglets here this season with 2 eaglets coming down too early, but luckily our Redding Eaglet Hope waited until she was 12 weeks old & was ready to go!
It's been quite a wonderful week so far!

Hi Phil, Bev, Judy & all!
I finally was able to go back down & check on our Redding Eagle Family yesterday!
It was already very warm out at 8:30 so I rode around fro a little bit but quickly headed to the nice shady cove over at the Family Tree!
I wasn't see any eagles after an hour so I packed up and was walking out of my viewing spot when all of a sudden I saw our beautiful fledgling Hope fly into the trees of the cove!!!!!
I was so excited to see her!!!!
She didn't' stay long but I was very happy to get a good look at her! She looks great!!!
She was very active, moving around a lot!!! I think she inherited more Guardian genes than Liberty genes!
Here's a short video of Hope on a low branch of the Family Tree...
