As a courtesy to viewers with slower internet connections, please limit the pictures in each post to no more than a total of 150,000 bytes (150KB), and please do not post animations (though it's fine to post a link to them). To avoid horizontal scrolling, please do not post pictures that are more than 500 pixels wide - though it's fine to post a 500-pixel-wide thumbnail that clicks to a much larger . The forum attachment software conveniently handles that task - so you can attach larger pictures, and a properly-sized clickable image will appear in your post. The preferred format for pictures is JPEG (.jpg), and three 500-pixel-wide JPEGs should be under the 150KB limit...
Three s'caps per post
All of us here at HWF would like to thank Berry College for letting us see a this wonderful view into the life of their resident bald eagles. The eagles have set up a massive nest just behind the school's athletic center. This is the first documented nest in the modern history of Floyd County, Georgia and the first nest in Georgia with a camera---three cams in fact!. And I would like to thank Mary F for pulling together much of this information for our opening posts!

B13 arrived last night around 10pm! The two eaglets have endured some stormy weather in their first days/hours of life, but our eagle parents are doing a great job with feeding and keeping them warm

We are heartbroken to report that B13 has died. Our eagle experts are trying to determine what happened and have been in contact with both federal and state authorities. We must keep in mind that this is not an uncommon occurrence in many eagle nests.
We also must be guided by what is best for B12 and the parents. If we tried to intervene, we could risk injury to the eaglet, its parents, or even nest abandonment.
These scenes may be disturbing to young children and other sensitive individuals. It is possible that one of the parents may consume the body or move it to the side of the nest where it would decompose.
Please remember that viewing wild animals in their environment can be difficult at times for humans to watch.

We are sad to report that B12 has died overnight. We have been in contact with the Department of Natural Resources since Monday to monitor and assess B12's condition. Unfortunately, things took a quick turn for the worse overnight. As of right now, we do not know the cause of B12's death. We will provide more information if it becomes available.
It is very important now that we do what is best for the eagles and not interfere with the nest. If we tried to intervene now, we could risk injury to the eagles, or even risk nest abandonment.
The nest live stream may be disturbing to young children and other sensitive individuals. It is possible that one of the parents may eat the eaglet's body or move it to the side of the nest where it would decompose.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The nest cam has been installed in an area very close to the nest which is "off limits" during nesting season. If something happens to the camera (picture shift, damage, blackout, eagle attack,) then repairs will not be made until after the eagles have left the nest. -

We now have 2 confirmed pips (1 on each egg). As stated previously, after the exterior pip becomes visible, hatching typically follows within 24 hours. Exciting times at the Berry nest! Special thanks to Donna Nickerson for her great video grab.

Hi Bev, wonderful to see Mom and Dad back at the nest. Maybe they were still around but just not at the nest. Now they are officially HOME. How did Mom’s leg look?
