WEDNESDAY MORNING

About 6am, two eagles (Freedom and Liberty) came to the nest and poked around for several minutes. One then flew away and the other (Freedom) stayed to pick at the sticks and try to move them around. Finally, he left, also. It was a quiet visit.

Wednesday May 2, 2018.. Bonjour Philjo, Good Morning Gail and all..Great to see our couple again this morning doing the nest bonding thing :rh: Philjo, FI could be gone but I never count out anyone, you never know for sure. So many declared Mom gone for good and look what happened. Never count them out.
The situation now is that the hormone that hits the eagles to make them do what they do has lessened. Eagles are social raptors, you will see them perching together and fishing and fighting over fish, even mated pairs. When that hormone prolactin is out of their system it is eagle business as usual. Next fall when they come back to their nest and start the bonding of nest building again, that is when we will be looking to see who comes back with whom and hopefully no one intrudes. The eagle population is leaping higher and higher so I think nice calm seasons of laying eggs, raising nestlings and teaching fledglings to be on their own are getting more rare. But we will wait and see!
Thanks for the scaps this morning both of you, I won't add mine to duplicate further, looks great though :grhug:

Good Morning ALL!
About 5:30am, one eagle came to the nest. He (I think Freedom) picked in the nest bole, settled down on the bole, poked at the nest material and tried to move a couple sticks. He was there for a while - maybe 10 minutes.

Thursday May 3, 2018.. Bonjour Philjo, Good Morning Gail, Yolande, Bev, Judy, Magben, and eveyone who has contributed to this thread. As this season winds down I think we can all say it has been an interesting year full of smiles and wonder at the nest rebuilding, joy at our two eggs and tears of sadness when they were left because of a Female Intruder. Joy at seeing our Liberty come back from what everyone thought was her demise to show what a strong, smart and powerful female she can be... with that all said I just got this notification...

Pennsylvania Game Commission

Thank you for joining us as we watched the Hanover, Pa. bald eagle nest live stream during 2018. This season was full of excitement as we learned new things about Pennsylvania’s growing bald eagle population. We plan to close the live stream sometime Friday, May 4.

What appears to have been an attempt to take over this territory by a floater (also known as intraspecific intrusion) has likely been replicated at several nests across the state as the bald eagle population grows. This is a testament to the Game Commission’s eagle recovery efforts and a result of a thriving bald eagle population.

We appreciate the time and dedication of our partners that made this live stream possible and thank the fans for being respectful and engaged in this unique learning opportunity. We invite you to tune in to the live stream from elk country this fall, where we hope to view bugling bull elk, turkey, deer, and other wildlife. Until then, we look forward to seeing photos of your summer wildlife experiences on our Facebook page. #PGCEagleCam bit.ly/PGCEagleCam

Hi Lynne,
Thank you so much for the time and dedication you have given to our nest this past year. Your scaps, observations and informative posts have taught us much about the life of eagles and why some of the things happened that we witnessed over the past months. I do hope that Freedom and Liberty come back to claim their nest again next winter and have a successful nesting experience next year. But we, as humans, can only wait and see......many thanks again for everything. I am really going to miss seeing this nest every morning ! :eag:

Hi Lynne, Gail, Philjo, and everyone who has been observing and reporting on this unusual/sad/interesting/exciting Hanover season ....

I'll be sorry, too, not to be able to pop in and see what's happening on this beautiful nest - with it's beautiful Liberty and Freedom! And wild and fierce FI!

Thank-you all so much for your wonderful coverage and patience in explaining what's what and who' who....it would have been impossible to get a sense of the happenings without your expertise and generous sharing .......

:ty:

Looking forward to the next season and in the meantime, I may 'bump' into to you at some of the other HWF nests...hope so!
