I have posted these two videos by LadyHawk to document what tragically happened here in this nest. PLEASE do not watch them if they will upset you

Both babies were well fed and were active in the morning in spite of the gnats. As the day went on, they both tried to stay underneath Dad as much as possible to get away from them. Dad was sneezing and coughing and shaking his head to try and rid himself of the gnats as well. Sometime around 2:00pm today, DN7 passes away on the nest. Dad tries to pick the gnats off and knows something is wrong. He has been on the nest for hours and continued to brood DN8 who sadly will pass away after DN7. I will have a 2nd video for DN8. My deepest condolences to Raptor Resource Project and all the many viewers who loved this eagle family. My heart is broken for Mom & Dad Decorah who have suffered so many losses. I had such hope for her when she laid her 2nd clutch of eggs - these were her miracle eggs. And when they hatched - what joy we all shared in seeing these two babies so full of life. Now they are gone and we are all left with a big empty hole in our hearts. RIP little angels we will never forget you. Thank you for watching!

Another heartbreaking loss for the Decorah North family with the passing of DN8 too. Dad Decorah was still on the nest brooding and protecting DN8 from the gnats and sun but sadly, it was too much for this little one and he passes away this afternoon. Dad Decorah can be seen watching as if he is grieving the loss of both his babies He stayed for a long time with them before he finally took off. My deepest condolences to Raptor Resource Project and all the many viewers who loved this eagle family. My heart is broken for Mom & Dad Decorach who have suffered so many losses. I had such hope for her and when she laid her 2nd clutch of eggs - these were her miracle eggs! And when they hatched - what joy we all shared in seeing these two babies so full of life. Good Morning all
What to say now three days after the tragedy ? :brknhrt:

i thought i have no more tears after that time but if i write on a letter rather than the screen, i'm sure nobody could read it as an ocean of tears should recover the paper and erase the ink on it… :cry1:

DN7 and DN8, 7 and 5 days spent with both of you, a so short while for some but in a same time a so long time for me.
I waited for your arriving more than 30 days as i stayed there, whishing for your coming after the first egg was broken under Mom,
then seeing you friday morning so living during yours 2 first meals of that 25th of May…

When i left you around 10 am that day i never could have imagined that it was the last time we share all three together a so good moment, you, so happy, so loved, so beautiful, never !

Now you already joined yours famous elder, i'm sure you met DN6, DH3 and DH4, Dad Decorah and so many others, follow them, trust them, they know the way, but you already know that…

But you know one thing i'm truly sure, as i said already to so many, i will met you in a while and even i'm so sure, that future day, YOU will find me… DN7 and DN8, i will never forget you. Come around your nest often during the brooding process, you future siblings may need your help.

Je vous aime à jamais mes Amis !

I feel your spirits even if today and for a while i don't really like this view...
2018-05-27_17h32_58.jpg
here too i ressent your spirits, so calm, so green, almost an Eden.
When i watch the sky, i know you are here soaring so high, i can't see you, only imagine you, but i know you are here with us DN7 and DN8.

Merci to my Eagle Family too ! i am from all my heart with all of you who lost such a close relatives, famillies, friend… and those who are in pain.

Mom and Dad Decorah North, i share all your feelings too. I will come back to support you. :rh:

Good Morning and Bonjour,

Oh Philjo~~~Just when I thought I had no more tears your beautiful post brought them back this morning. Your words were so heartfelt and so very beautiful. I always have a hard time expressing myself with words as I feel like they always are inadequate at times. I usually let others do it and I'm thankful for all the tributes to our fallen eagles and eaglets through the years. This was my first year watching Mr. and Mrs. North and I weep with everyone here at their loss. I will always look forward to your posts and observations of this nest, my friend. Big Hugs and Thank your for your so thoughtful posts. :huggie:

Good Morning and Bonjour.

Philjo~~~It was a beautiful morning at the nest and I loved the last picture you posted. They might be gone from us but never forgotten. I just wanted to add a picture from this morning. I felt like I was looking at two golden eggs as heaven let it's light shine down on the nest.

Good Morning all, Bonjour Elaine
00h54, Stormy, rain and Wind
A black, wet and empty nest now, full of life some days ago….
It's why today without any presence in it, this is my last night pic of it until next season or until i'll see a presence on the nest,
DN7 and DN8 are in the light now, so they can't be found in this grey sad nest and I :rh: you too.
Time to me to say bye Decorah North. Take Care Mom and Dad ! i pray for you.
