I got up to this nest on Monday the 18th. There was 1 eagle calling on the upside of the road. The nest is on the downside. We could not find the eagle nor any sign of nesting. The nest is difficult to view but at least we saw some promise. They were very late to fledge last year.
A large piece of plastic is still stuck to the nest tree from last nesting season. Hard to believe it survived all the big wind storms that went through recently.
One day recently while driving along the highway I saw 2 eagles perched right beside the 2 bare tree tops that were perch trees for so many years. I thought they could be pretty much downhill from the this nest and could have been this couple. First time I've seen 2 perched in that tree.

Finally stopped by this nest today, at first I couldn't see any activity in or around the nest but when the wind picked up and the greenery started moving around, opening up the view of the nest a little more, I could see an adult in the nest. Okay, there was just an eye and part of a beak showing, but it still counts :D

Glad you spotted that eye and beak Karen the arrow certainly helped me see it! Looks like it's saying "you looking at me"? Thanks for the pics.

Another stop by the nest this morning showed an adult in the nest again, sitting higher than last time. Would be amazing if there were triplets again this year :)

Yup, definitely sitting higher. Thanks Karen! The 3rd one to leave the area last year was one of our latest to fledge so they could be a bit later than some of our other nests again this year. Third ones often do need a bit more time to be fed without rivalry to catch up as well.

Stopped by the nest this morning and after watching for a while saw one eaglet appear . . . and one bear behind me, again :-)

After watching an adult in the nest for a while, an eaglet appeared! So there is at least one.

Turned around and saw a bear behind me on the road, same thing happened last year when I was visiting this nest :-)

Awesome pics once again Karen! I think wildlife is looking to check you out as much (or more) than you are them! :woohoo: I love that you got such a good shot of at least 1 eaglet. Well done!

Great pics Karen! And glad to hear that there's at least one healthy and happy eaglet :)

Thank you Heather and Sandra! Visited the nest again this morning and all was quiet, though there was one adult in the nest looking out at me.

This picture taken from on the road walking downhill heading towards the nest, seemed to be a new 'open' spot there.

Visited the nest this morning, the hill going up towards the nest is very rough now and it looks like a large amount of water recently ran down the road. A slow bumpy ride for sure :-)

All was quiet when I parked and got out, but when I looked in at the nest could see two good sized eaglets looking out in the direction the adults fly in from. They weren't calling for food, just patiently watching.

So we know for sure there are two eaglets at the nest this year. But the question is, is there a third hiding in the background like there was last year :)

You are getting some wonderful shots of a nest difficult to capture Karen. Kudos! :w00t:
