Sorry to hear about the intruder and losing the chicks here Kay..... :( This is the hard part of eagle or any other nest.

PhilJo...your post is fun to see.....I hope that nest is successful in raising the red tailed hawk. (We had one fly over us yesterday on our walk).

Hi Philjo Thanks for posting this info. I saw it on Facebook and it brought back so many memories of watching little Spunky growing up with his 3 eaglet 'siblings' :rh: Nature is certainly amazing and very entertaining but sometimes very sad. I hope the little hawk survives and fledges. I will be checking Terri's posts to see how it is doing :thumlft:

Hi Carolyn yes, it is very sad news :( It has been a very hard year for some nests and I am keeping my fingers crossed that all the eaglets now in rehab survive :luck:

I drove by the eagle nest and around the Roberts Bay area this afternoon but did not see any adults in the area.

Hi Sassyk, Hi Carolyn,
As i opened a door 5 messages above, i have to to close it now...
The Hawklet "Tuffy" is not anymore part of our world, he was almost ready to fledge and desappeared the last couple of days. :cry1: :brknhrt:

a video from C.Sasse, SassePhoto
Important Update on Red-tailed Hawk in Redding Eagle Nest
This is NOT the story I wanted to tell you. The update is that Tuffy is likely dead. Terri found young red-tail feathers in close proximity of the nest. He went missing on Saturday morning, July 6th. He seemed not ready for fledging when we last saw him on July 4th. He was likely eaten by a bear or a large cat or similar. So sorry.....of course there is still hope, however it is highly unlikely we will see him again.

Philjo thanks for posting this info about Tuffy. A very sad ending to this marvellous story. Thanks to David and Christian who took the time to travel to Redding to document Tuffy's last days :brknhrt:

New amazing scenes from the Sidney nest never shown before - the famous eagle nest with a red-tailed hawklet and three eaglets - all in strong wind, uncut. The parent eagles fly in with food. For your complete eagle enjoyment! Here is the complete story from 2017 https://youtu.be/M0O1Dp2cocQ
