Reservoir Road Nest in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC Season 2017-2018
Re: Reservoir Road Nest in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC Season 2017-2018
Thanks for the updates on this nest Karen and Sandra. Maybe the eaglet has fledged it seems a little late now, on looking back at the posts the eaglets look pretty big. They could have hatched later than most eaglets though.

Marg I was thinking of our experience watching 3 in a nest on the HWF cams, especially Tiny in Sidney. That 3rd chick can be underfed and needing more time to energy up to fly. I hope not, but I hope to check in there again to see if it is still around.

I did drop in here again yesterday to find a lone eaglet perched above the nest to our right viewing from the upside of the nest tree! It perched quietly with a feather stuck to its beak, a good sign it is still getting fed. It was in a position different from where I saw either of the other 2.
Caught the nictitating membrane in this picture.
It was good to see some of the dumped debris had been removed from the parking area. Perhaps locals mentioned seeing people with cameras there! Re: Reservoir Road Nest in Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC Season 2017-2018
Thanks for the update Sandra! I'm glad you saw the lone eaglet, maybe when I thought I saw movement in the nest last time I was there, there actually was an eaglet still there. One did seem to be further behind development wise so hopefully is able to eat more now that the other two have fledged. Happy that it appears to be well fed, will soon be heading off to join its siblings I imagine While driving in to Sechelt the other day I did see a juvenile flying over the highway, close to the tree that adults can be seen perched in sometimes so was thinking it may have been one of the Reservoir youngsters.
Good news re some of the debris has been cleaned up, it was getting out of hand especially when someone dumped the mattress there.

Great news in that our last eaglet has fledged! Sad news, I couldn't get a visual of it even though it was calling loudly and clearly from a tree across the road from the nest tree, in between my parked car and nest tree. At 11:00 this morning I was sadly looking into the sun while trying to find it. That didn't work.
The calls weren't incessant, more of a "here I am, where are you?" every once in a while.
