An adult landed in the tree closest to the path beside the big field at Tower Point.

Went to Witty's Lagoon beach today and Tower Point. Saw one mature eagle perched in a tree overlooking the ocean. At one point we observed a fledgling circling in the thermals looking very confident. Nest appeared empty.
It was an overcast windy afternoon contrary to the weather forecast but it is still one of my absolute favourite places . I went prepared to swim and it was certainly warm enough but the wind and a snake in the water changed my mind. We will go again :)

Snake :w00t:

One of my fellow WiTS monitors has been kept updated by the property owners and was told there were no eaglets this year in any of the nests in the area :dunno: She will check with the owners again next week.

Kay: The Duke Rd and Farhill Rd nests were also empty. Who knows where the young one we saw circling came from. It looked to be a fledgling but could have been a yearling. It was hard to see as so high up and the sky was hazy from the fires in Sooke :(

The lagoon end is an active snake crossing. I have seen snakes crossing from one side to the other many times. I am always on alert for them because they don't just swim on the surface where you can see them; they swim under water. ! So if you are also in for a swim...... it is creepy if ones goes by. They are harmless but like I said... creepy. :grlol; Forewarned. :%:
