Having trouble with the internet feed - cam is fine, Dimple is on the nest.

Should be OK in a couple of minutes.

8:44 am
We are back. I did a very quick look back on the dvr before I reset things, and didn't see anything unusual.

Dimple flew off right after I brought the cam back up. It's now 8:49 am and I am out of the cam. The eggs are alone. I did look around quickly and didn't see Dimple or Duffer.

And Dimple is back at 8:50 am.

From the dvr....

Dimple was back at 8:50 am.

She stayed there incubating until about 9:24 am, when she flew off. She was back about 2 minutes later and settled in on the eggs.

There was a bit of calling at 10:10, and I think I heard another eagle in the distance. She got up a moment later and did a bit of digging in the nest, keeping the nest cup soft and fluffy to help with air circulation, then did a bit of puttering with nearby sticks and adjusted a clump of moss after she settled down again.

She was up again at 10:50 am and flew off, returning at 10:53 am.

11:03 am - she was up and off again. I heard two eagles who seemed fairly near a couple of minutes later and looked around a bit, but didn't see either of them. It's very possible that they are perched higher in the nest tree, where the cam can't look.

11:41 am
Dimple is still on break - I'm hoping she's having a nice meal and a chance to soar a bit.

I'm not seeing any behavior suggesting that a hatch might be in progress - and as we've mentioned before, because Dimple has to take care of herself first, the eggs have been uncovered more than usual, so it's likely they are no longer viable if they ever were. I zoomed in for a closeup (clicks much bigger), and am convinced that any spots are dirt or leaves. Today is day 37 for the first egg, day 34 for the second.

It's now 11:45, and the eggs are alone. I am out of the cam.

Thanks, Bev!

5 pm
checking the dvr

For the record, Dimple was gone a little over 3 hours, from 11:03 am to 2:09 pm.

She then incubated the eggs for about 5 minutes, before flying off at 2:14 pm; I could hear calling in the background after she left, but am not sure if there were one or two eagles calling.

Dimple came back at 2:21 pm and settled down on the eggs. She did a bit of calling at 2:57 pm; I was at the computer so I logged in and looked around but didn't see anyone. I think she had stopped calling before I went to look - I was wondering if Duffer was nearby. She continued to incubate the eggs, looking around from time to time.

At 3:15 pm, she made a couple of calls, and looked as if she might be watching someone.

By 3:16, I was hearing a second eagle. She stood up and moved to the edge of the nest, continuing to call; I tried to point the camera the way she was looking, but she didn't look in one direction for long enough for that to work.

I did a quick look around without seeing anyone. When I brought the cam back to the nest a minute later, she had flown off. She returned to the nest at 3:35 pm.

She got up at 4:07, returning less than a minute later. She adjusted a stick (not sure if she brought a little one or just moved one on the nest), then settled on the eggs at 4:08 pm; she seemed to be looking intently at something from time to time.

She remained on the nest until 4:46 pm, when she got up and flew off again, returning at 4:54 pm.

It's now 5:26 pm, and I was going to say she's busy incubating - but she flew off right after this s'cap; I think the bit of a stick in her beak is because she was moving little sticks around.
20220517_008.jpg

Added - she was back again at 5:29 pm.

It's not that late, but it's been a busy few days so I'm going to call it a night.

Have a good evening, everyone.
