Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:11 am - Good Morning Delta 2! I am in on the cams and found one of our adults out on the Evergreen Tree. I did check the rollback and did not find anything of significance to report.
Both eaglets have been squeeing up a storm. They must be hungry. Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:14 am - so I found that it was Dusk making all the noise, calling out to Ma & Pa for breakfast.
Both neighbors are at home.
Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:16 am - it looks like a nice day out at Delta today. No one at the Center pole/tower, the Delta Port pole, or the first pole/tower.
Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:20 am - our one adult is still on the Evergreen tree
Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:30 am - from what I can tell, both eaglets are sleeping with their heads tucked back.
Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:33 am - Both are awake now and both doing crop drops
Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
8:36 am - I took a look around and now the adult that was on the Evergreen tree is gone
8:44 am - I am now off the cams. Hoping Ma or Pa is out hunting or fishing for some breakfast for our eaglets. Everyone have a great day!
Found one of our adults on the pole to the right of the center tower
8:38 am - looks like Dawn is up for a PS while Dusk is sleeping with h/h head back

Adult stopped by a minute ago very quickly and dropped off some sort of bird. One chick grabbed it, and then moved it to the center of the nest and is beginning to open it while the other chick watches.

There was another very quick visit about 10 am - I didn't think there was a delivery, but now I've looked back and I think the adult brought something. Both chicks appeared to be chewing on something afterwards, but I thought it was nestovers. It was quite small - and I couldn't get a good look even on the rollback.
One of the chicks did a great mantle -
- but didn't seem to do anything afterwards. After that both chicks seemed to be picking at nestovers, so perhaps there was something that one of them finally figured how to eat.

Back to the present, the chick who initially got the prey is still working on it and seems to be getting some good bites. The other chick has moved closer once or twice, but is keeping his or her distance.

Another delivery by an adult, and the chick who had been working on the bird grabbed it.
Other chick comes closer and tries for the new item, ignoring the bird.

The other chick grabbed the bird and moved it to the edge of the nest
- but didn't actually start eating it, and again went to try to grab the food from the first one (which looked smaller and potentially easier to eat).
10:44 am
Adult landed next to the abandoned bird and began a feeding. Both chicks are there, but I think the one who had been eating is getting most -
-though the other one is reaching in and grabbing food at 10:49 am (no picture of that - I was typing and not fast enough to grab my mouse for a screenshot)
The one who had eaten the most back off for a bit and the other chick was fed some.

Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
Chick who hasn't had as much grabbed something and was trying to swallow it (I think he/she succeeded) - might have been part of the other food item.
10:53 pm
Adult is checking for other things to feed. I think the chick that hasn't eaten as much is working on scraps from the bird. The one who has had more food attempted to nibble on the adult's beak - adult wasn't amused (sorry - too quick for a s'cap).
And I need to step away from the computer now - hopefully there will be more food soon as both chicks still seem hungry (though chicks always seem hungry, and it's hard to judge crop size once they have feathers).
Adult is digging way down in the nest - not sure what he or she thinks is down there - so far he(?) is just coming up with lots of dust.
Adult flew off at 10:58 am.
