Hello everyone watching the Delta2 cams. I've been quietly watching the nest for about 2 months now but registered today in order to post. I was hoping that someone would be kind enough to answer my question below given that many seem to be long term observers and may have insights to past behaviours.
I've noticed that the two eaglets, Dusk and Dawn, appear to have a very mellow temperament. It's rare that I see them aggressive or overly competitive with one another. They seem to like to be physically close and it seems that they've remained so on these first days out of the nest. What I've seen termed as "beaking", or face biting behaviour, seems to be fairly playful. And I'm wondering if this is typical of eaglet siblings that you've observed in the past?
Thanks in advance

Boy, Dusk is bellowing. I see there appear to be two adults (I think- hard to tell)in the tower. Perhaps this is why...”I am hungry, Ma”... too funny about the references to millennials but is becoming fitting.

Hi Teresa,
I have been watching this nest for a few years and others may have more technical knowledge. However, I can tell you that last year Spirit and Jewel were not seen staying together like these two after they fledged. These two seem to be quite close and bonded compared to other siblings...this is just my view and would be interested to know the others’ take on this.

2:47 pm - two adult eagles at the first tower. This maybe why the eaglets are calling out as Ma maybe at this tower.
Teresa, what I have observed since their hatch dates, these two do have a nice bond with each other. Even from the beginning, there was no serious bonking as they were hatched within 12 hours of each other. Just from my observations, it does seem they are close and seem to travel together. Yes, they do have their playful moments for sure with occasional beaking. I wish I could answer your question about typical eaglet sibling behavior for overall eaglets as I have only been observing eaglets and eagles for two years. Thank you for your post and registering. Please consider posting more and discussing what you see. I am sure someone with more expertise will provide you more insight to eaglet behavior later.“Eagles: When they walk, they stumble. Phil or Bonnie, would either of you like to take the cams? I need to leave shortly.

I agree. This has been the calmest, least aggressive pair I've watched in three years.MrsThornhill wrote: ↑Sun Jul 08, 2018 2:55 pmHi Teresa,

Hi Teresa, and welcome to the forum! I've been around a few years on this nest and never have seen a bond like these 2. However were a couple years we only had one eaglet. Even watching other nests, haven't seen a bond like this. That's me 2 cents. And again glad to have you here!Teresa wrote: ↑Sun Jul 08, 2018 2:47 pmHello everyone watching the Delta2 cams. Goodnite Delta2 Family. It has been quiet on the nest today. Dusk and Dawn have been gone most of the day. Ma was just seen recently on the tower with AME. Looks like activity at this nest is slowly winding down for this season. Have a nice evening.

WOW! That was the greatest follow of a flying eagle I've ever seen here!
Re: Delta2 2017 - 2018 Observation and Discussion Thread
3:02 pm - Wow, that was totally cool. An eagle appeared at the first tower where there were two eagles and flew across the field and another appeared.

3:03 pm - Oh Phil, thanks, as that was awesome for me to experience. And when two appeared...which way to go? But luckily both ended up on the center tower.

3:08 pm - Dawn on the upper branch and Dusk in the nest and both are calling out. Bet Ma is at the center tower and their calls went loudly when those two eagles were flying about. They can easily see her on the center tower if in fact that is she.

Thank you Bonnie (txsun), Sandy_W, Phil and Mrs. Thornhill. Your replies are much appreciated!
I'm particularly interested in behaviour as a write about dinosaurs. So observing modern raptors and inferring behaviour helps to round out the picture of potential theropod behaviour. I wish there was more distinct sexual dimorphism so it would be easier to tell them apart at this age. I think if would be interesting to know if we have 2 females, 2 males or a male and female as hatchlings. But maybe it is as simple as these just happen to be 2 lovely, special eaglets.
