I noticed the IR on West View cam flickering in and out 6:37 - 6:41. Now it hasn't turned off. Is this a problem or are they testing it?

I saw the owls in and out 12:20 - 1:30 (didn't roll back further or forward). What happens if they are claiming the nest when the eagles come back?
I don't think anyone was testing the IR this morning - my guess is that the light just couldn't decide if it was morning or not because it is a gray day.

I'm not an expert, but it's my understanding that great horned owls don't build nests, and instead look for empty nests or nests they can take over. Eagles are bigger - but the owls are fierce, so it could get messy if our pair and these owls (I'm guessing there's a mate around somewhere) decide they want the nest. I suspect they both pick their fights, and unless one or both pairs were desperate for a nest, there could be a few confrontations, then one pair would move on.

Thanks, Marilyn, with the head up on the owl visit earlier. I missed it in scrolling back.
12:38 pm rollback and out of sequence, the Great Horned Owl came to the nest and walked about.

Patiently waiting and listening for any sign of our Ma and DM to return....Hope the horned owl is just checking things out at the new nest and moves on..hopefully ,for we surely dont need a confrontation with Ma n DM and a horned owl...need post a sign NO VACANCY! OWNERS RETURNING SOON....

?... Is the open part of the nest (not the side with the cover over it) facing out towards the field where Ma and DM fly across to the trees from their percing tower n poles? So when they come flying in they will go directly onto the nest...

Tried to figure it out on the pictures posted on forum of the where abouts the nest is situated among the old nest tree. I'm sure it is situated that way but wasn't picturing it in my head from the pictures.
It sure is going to be nice to have shade once again on the nest when the sun is a shining bright ..Love how David made a little sun roof for them from the shade and some extra long perching posts.

Did anyone see the owl last night? I couldn't find it in rollback. Hopefully it has decided not to make the nest its home.

Hi Marilyn. I did a quick check of the rollback in the morning hours but didn't see any visitor. Of course, I could have missed a quick visit. Yes, let's hope the owl has moved on.
