5:12 pm - I have only seen small birds up until now as I have been looking around with the cams. Lots of them hanging out on the towers....but then now just came across this bird on the center tower...They were not there during my first time around. Maybe a hawk?
Two s'caps from the E Cam

And this s'cap is from the W Cam

5:15 pm - The bird on the center tower flew off just as I was getting ready to move the W Cam....and of course I was caught off guard...didn't get a s'cap of the fly off because we have no embedded cams and I forgot...but I was able to follow him over to the first tower....still looks a bit small to me to be an eagle and the wing flapping as he flew looked more like a hawk. Unfortunately this bird flew off the first tower when I was looking around with the E Cam so I did not see them leave and didn't find them anywhere.

5:09 pm - a little earlier I had the E Cam on the poles by the Bay and there are a couple spots there that to me look like adults....but it could just be something that is part of the poles. Anyway, one closer to the came seems larger than the one in the back, which is so tiny but I was seeing white and black on that one so thought I would mention it. Both are still there now at 5:28 pm. Again, not sure if these are really eagles but the coloring just looks like they are

5:38 pm - here is where the hawk is....from the E Cam view we can only see the top of the hawk's head as one of the branches is in the way

And from the W Cam....zoomed out so we can see where the hawk is on the evergreen tree

5:44 pm - the hawk is still on the evergreen tree...just be-bopping his head around...I'm sure he will be flying off when I'm not looking

5:52 pm - the hawk flew off the evergreen tree a few minutes ago...was just getting back to the W Cam when I saw the branch bouncing, so I just missed him leaving....not sure where he went to.

As for the marks on those poles by the bay....the lighting is much different now and those spots now just look like dark marks so they may just be part of the poles.

I did another quick look around and did not find any large birds on any of the towers or poles.

I am now off the cams. Everyone have a great evening!

Seems very still out there right now. Again there is a Flicker in the tree... heard him (loudly) before I saw him.

We live on the Fraser River just outside of Ladner Harbour and have a 4 year old eagle nest on the island across from our float home with successful fledging of 1 eaglet/year for the past 3 years. I follow Delta2 as a “similar” nest to figure out what may be happening in “my” nest! Today, our first adult re-appeared, a juvenile was also seen flying high above the nest. Usually the first adult appears in early October - so close to the mark. Thanks to Delta2 volunteers for all you do - I look forward to another season!

Hi Brenda! Great to hear from you! It is wonderful that you follow our nest as well as the one close to you...........please feel free to post more often! You are so fortunate to live so close to a wonderful view of an eagles' nest!

We are beginning to see a few eagles around, but on the cams we cannot see much because the view is limited. But even in my area of Langley some eagles have been spotted and we know there are others coming back from their migration now. We can expect Ma and Trooper any time now but they could also take their sweet time and not return for a week or so.
