4:22 am did a quick check of the rollback since Jean's posts last night and didn't see any eagle visits to the nest.

8:07 am: Have been logged into cam. No change on nest, since Sue posted pic. Looked around. Very windy today, so East cam is shaky. No signs of any eagles. Will check back in a couple of hours.
It's a great event to get outside and enjoy nature. I find it very exciting no matter how many times I see bald eagles.

3:32 pm logging into both cams for a look around.
3:50 pm logging off both cams as have a huge thunderstorm coming through.
3:46 pm did not see any eagles but did pick up a very large bird flying across the field. Followed and it could have been an eagle the way it soared but was very far away.

Good evening,

Been watching all night, every night till dusk and no visits at all. Hoping to see one of our Eagles fly in. quiet on the nest.
Where have they gone...

I have a ? How far is the Surrey nest from Delta nest area? Res and Sur are back and seem to be on the nest at least once a day
doing little work here and there on the nest. Just wondering difference for our Eagles have completely gone poof since their return ,
no eagles at all in our area...

Trying to stay positive but this is just odd not an eagle in sight and not the norm to me since I have been watching delta..Observing and learning all in the same sentence for sure.

Any one else thoughts on this one??

Where are you Ma n Trooper?

Hi Linuxgw2...............I have calculated a very rough distance for you and am coming up with about 14 or 15 miles (not sure how accurate that is but it shouldn't be too far off). The Surrey nest is across Boundary Bay and farther inland. That is not a long distance. Eagles can and will fly way more than that in a day if they want to.

I don't think there is anything to worry about..........we are not missing a pair of eagles.............many eagles are not in our view right now so it is several of the ones we usually see that are not in the cams view right now. When searching the bay area with our cams I often see dots of birds, some that could be eagles and there are eagles living on both sides of this bay. I think they have all found better prospects now and will be back when the circumstances change and they feel the necessity of being nearer to their nests. It is a mystery though. Usually food is a driving force, that is why they go north after the fledges are over. And I wouldn't be surprised if food has something to do with it this time. I've heard David talk about eagles flying all over to Vancouver Island or inland or up the coast just for lunch. So they may have found some good source of food for now that is better than what is at home. :dunno:

If we don't see any eagles again tonight I will send off an email to JudyB......perhaps she or David can give some input into this.
