.. I did miss a fair amount of time but was not really expecting the first egg here so soon! :w00t: What a surprise when I got my power back to find a scap of E #1 ! Hopefully it will be OK there in it's tiny bed of leaves on the snow. I'm betting that it was quite hastily put together. TA-DA! Here ...

DNF had been looking to me like she was ready to lay that first egg. I was hoping the snow would be gone but here it is! Congrats to Mr North and DNF!!

I don't know if any of you have seen this. After what happened to the SWFEC eaglets I sure hope this clears up for precious NE24!!

Check it out. We can clearly see the beginning of the blood/pin feathers on E18's wing
Also--do we count this as a first mantle as E18 throws itself over the catfish that M brought in LOL! Mine, mine E18 says

.. This pair of eagles was working really hard all day on their nest---in the snow. By the time the day was over they had the most beautiful rails. Just took a look. It's been snowing steadily all day and no eagles were seen--not even on the DVR.

,, Thank you JudyB! I was busy watching the feeding and cheering E18 on. You were right--E18 seemed to shy away from that big beak for a while. M15 is such an excellent Dad. So unlike so many eagle Dads that I have seen. He is always for the underdog/eaglet. E18 ended up with a nice full crop. [/b] ...
