Re: Glacier Gardens Eagles, Juneau Alaska - 2019 Season

Journi you are doing a fantastic job of documenting the activities at this nest :thumlft: I have been busy with family the past few days which is always fun. Go-carts, mini-golf then lunch today :woohoo: We always enjoy the grandkids coming to visit; we do things we wouldn’t normally do :thumlft: I...

Re: Glacier Gardens Eagles, Juneau Alaska - 2019 Season

Hi Journi, I recorded a video of the nest activities earlier today. The eaglets were preening and scratching, and waiting for someone to bring them food. First Mama come in with a big bunch of moss/grass, then Papa came in with a big stick, nearly knocking the eaglets over while trying to reposition...

Hi Journi Sorry I didn't get these s'caps posted earlier. Watching & recording whle I was doing the laundry  I was watching the nest for awhile this afternoon; had to rewind to find a parent in the nest. I made one more visit to this nest today. The eaglet successfully fledged in the last two days. It was perched in a snag a few trees over from the nest tree. It called out softly twice and while we were on another dock it flew off towards the nest. We could not see the nest tree from where we were s...

On May 15th my birding partner discovered the new nest the eagles previously had near Island View Beach. She was able to view it from the end of Martindale Rd. and saw 2 chicks in the nest :woohoo: On June 19th she visited the area again and the 2 eaglets were getting up in the nest and stretching t...

On June 19th my birding partner visited the nest site. One eaglet was moving around in the nest. The adult male was perched in a cottonwood stand nearby. The female flew into the nest with more grass and sat in the nest. The eaglet moved around then layed down. On June 24th my birding partner visite...

Hi Marianne, I asked Tina at the Glacier Gardens last year if they would provide a date stamp and their answer was no, because it would distract the visitors who were viewing the nest on the screen at the gardens. Same with sound. Maybe they will change their minds for next season! It does make it d...

I had fun watching the Purple Martins at Goldstream Marina yesterday. There were at least 30 adults and approx. 10 young ones flying. Re: Metchosin, Westshore and Sooke Bald Eagles- 2018-2019 Season

I visited the Farhill Rd. eagles yesterday. We did not see or hear either of the adults in the area. The eaglet has branched and was perched on a branch beside the nest. It was partially hidden by the leaves and I wasn't able to capture a photo of the entire eaglet. We tried a few different vantage ...

I was at Esquimalt Lagoon yesterday and took a few photos of the eagle nest tree. I did not see or hear the adults but did hear an eaglet calling once. I think one of the 3 eaglets was lying down in the nest. I caught a glimpse of movement using my binoculars but didn't catch it in a photo. The eagl...

I finally got out to Goldstream Park to see the eagles and the lone eaglet in the nest. One of the adults, I think the female was perched in a nearby tree watching the eaglet. It was having a nap for the first 15 minutes then decided to get up and stretch its wings. It did not do any flapping but di...

I visited the Lansdowne/Beach Dr. eagle nest site today. I viewed the nest tree from the side street behind and saw the eaglet perched beside the nest.
