Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2021

That was a nice surprise to run into you and David viewing the nest at the same time! I've been by the nest at least a few times a week walking Ice and though always seeing at least one adult in the nest or both adults (one in the nest and one perched on the curved branch), have yet to see any signs...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2021

Stopped by the nest yesterday, it's been very quiet the past few times I have checked in but yesterday as soon as I arrived an adult flew into the perch tree next to the nest tree. And was immediately dive bombed by a crow! When I checked the nest I couldn't see anything at first but then noticed a ...

Re: Kinnikinnick Park Eagle nest, W Sechelt BC, on the Sunshine Coast, 2019-2020

After several visits to the nest and only seeing an adult either in the nest or perched close by, it was very exciting to finally see some eaglet activity yesterday (June 10). When I first arrived I could see an adult in the nest, who then flew off to perch on a branch close by. A few seconds later,...

I stopped by there today and viewed the nest from the bottom of Mabel and didn't see any eagle activity either Sandra, either in the nest or surrounding trees. But may have just been time of day, was around 4:45 pm.

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2021

Have stopped by the nest a few times since March 11th but it's been pretty quiet when I have, did see an adult peeking out from the nest one time and then today (May 23rd) when I stopped by there was an adult either feeding or eating and that was the extent of any activity while I was there :-) Kare...

Re: Kinnikinnick Park Eagle nest, W Sechelt BC, on the Sunshine Coast, 2019-2020

Hopefully you will both see some activity at this nest soon, it's so hard to know when to go and if there will be an adult or youngster making an appearance. I stopped by quickly on May 19th and saw one adult perched in a tree close to the nest tree, soon after another adult came flying in and lande...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2021

I've checked out the nest several times while in the area but haven't seen much activity, usually the head of an adult looking out. Yesterday though while walking towards the nest tree an adult eagle flew overhead heading towards the nest so I quickly snapped a picture, when I downloaded and zoomed ...

Re: Kinnikinnick Park Eagle nest, W Sechelt BC, on the Sunshine Coast, 2019-2020

Another visit on May 1st saw one adult in the nest who at first was just looking out from the nest but then stood up and kept looking down into the nest as if there was something there. An eaglet or two maybe ? She/or he then moved further up onto the edge of the nest and continued to look down into...

A quick visit to the nest on May 1st was pretty quiet though I did spot an adult looking out at me from the nest after I walked down the hill a little ways again. I couldn't stay long so didn't see if there were any little heads in the nest, hopefully next time can stay a bit longer and observe for ...

Being curious about this nest and whether it was being used I stopped by again today around 4:45 pm, but this time parked on 9th Street to view the nest from the other side. I have to say that from this side the nest looks even more unstable and thought that maybe it had been abandoned halfway throu...

Re: Kinnikinnick Park Eagle nest, W Sechelt BC, on the Sunshine Coast, 2019-2020

I'm not 100% certain but think I might have found the new nest today, I was standing on upper side of Sandpiper next to the park talking to a local 'birder' when an eagle started calling. We both looked up and saw an adult perched in a tree near the end of Sandpiper, but that's not where the calling...

Re: Mabel Rd/9th St nest on the Strait of Georgia, Sunshine Coast, Gibsons BC 2019-2020

I took a drive today to see if anything was happening this year at this site and was surprised to see, a nest! But on closer inspection, zooming in with the camera, I'm not sure that the nest is that stable. This pair has had a nest (or maybe two) collapse before so wondering if this is going to be ...

It's been a while, but hoping this year we find where this couple has rebuilt their nest. I was in the area on Thursday, March 18th and while I was on Crowston could see an adult eagle perched in the dead tree at the end of Sandpiper. The eagle then flew into the trees close to where their nest was ...

A couple of pictures from March 11th, both adults were 'home'; first perched on the curved branch together and then when I walked back the other way one had moved into the nest. The smaller sized eagle was standing but I couldn't see a band in any pictures. Is the male always smaller than the female...

I did a quick loop around the Marsh on Thursday, March 18th, it was overcast and drizzly rain so looking towards the nest I couldn't see anything as it was too dark in there. But, while I was walking the perimeter of the Marsh I heard a loud piercing call, almost like an alarm call over and over com...

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2019-2021

I was at the Marsh on December 17th and while walking around the duck pond noticed one of the adults in the nest, a short time later the second adult flew in, with possibly a stick/branch, was a bit hard to see. Both adults were then in the nest appearing to be moving something around or rearranging...

Thanks Heather, this nest is so hard to see into it really is a peek-a-boo nest. The little 'hole' that you can see through in the greeny is getting smaller and smaller from the upside of the nest where the eaglets and adults are most visible from, now if only the adults and eaglets would perch on t...

It would have been nice for you to see at least one eagle during your visit Sandra. I'm a bit confused about the mossy branch too, I don't think it came from the nest tree but seems rather large for it to be carried there. But may be a possibility ? I stopped by late afternoon last Sunday (June 28),...
