Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

Thank you Sandra and Heather ! Stopped by the nest for a quick visit on Monday (July 20th) and both eaglets were there, as I was driving up the hill towards the nest I could see lots of wing flapping happening but by the time I drove up, parked and got out all activity had stopped. One eaglet was pe...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

A quick check in at the nest yesterday (Friday, July 17th) saw no adults around but both eaglets were visible. One more so than the other, the one on the right only came into view after I walked back up the road a ways and looked back at the nest. All was quiet, no calling. I couldn't stay long so l...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Stopped by the nest again on Thursday (July 9th), at first all I could see was an adult in the perch tree, then a few minutes later the second adult flew in and landed in the perch tree. I guess the chatter between the two woke up the two youngsters because they appeared shortly after. No calling, j...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

That's what I was wondering too Sandra after the moss seemed to disappear, that it was a huge piece of moss laid across the nest. Hopefully Pa isn't getting confused :-) I was walking along the beach yesterday with one of our dogs and as I went by looked up and saw the eaglet looking out (direction ...

Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

Thanks Heather, this nest is so hard to see into it really is a peek-a-boo nest. The little 'hole' that you can see through in the greeny is getting smaller and smaller from the upside of the nest where the eaglets and adults are most visible from, now if only the adults and eaglets would perch on t...

You're right it will make them easier to tell the two apart, I hadn't thought of that.

No idea how I didn't see your post on the 29th from your June 25th visit Sandra. What a great collection of pictures of all three in the nest at once, I'm surprised they all fit :)

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Stopped by the nest last Sunday (June 28th) again and though I didn't see any adults around one of the eaglets was looking out from the nest, a short time later the second eaglet (who looks larger) joined the first one. After a few minutes the first eaglet disappeared back into the nest leaving the ...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

It would have been nice for you to see at least one eagle during your visit Sandra. I'm a bit confused about the mossy branch too, I don't think it came from the nest tree but seems rather large for it to be carried there. But may be a possibility ? I stopped by late afternoon last Sunday (June 28),...

Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

Finally stopped by this nest again on June 17th, all was quiet though I did see an adult in the nest. I waited for about 30 mins and didn't see any youngsters or hear any activity other than the one adult looking out at me. I left but stopped by again on my way out of Sechelt a few hours later, agai...

Re: Henderson Bald Eagles, Roberts Creek, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 Season

That's definitely a possibility Sandra, I never thought of a Canada Goose but the colouring is similar so maybe that's where all the feathers came from. Let's hope for the best for the eaglet(s); not that I want to see a Canada Goose lose it's mate but would be nice if the eaglets did have a chance....

I don't know what to think, I stopped by the Henderson nest again today hoping to hear or see an eaglet (or two) but didn't see or hear any eagle activity at all while I was there. But when walking along the beach noticed a large number of feathers scattered within a few feet of each other in-betwee...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

It does appear to be a mossy branch Sandra, here's a closely cropped picture showing it better. This was taken on the up side of the nest, by the mail boxes / "Love Shack". I do remember last year and though of the same thing this time, maybe why no youngsters have been spotted yet ? Or could just b...

All was quiet again, no calling from...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Everything seemed very calm and relaxed. I did see some movement in the nest behind the adult, lower down closer to the middle branch,...

Re: Henderson Bald Eagles, Roberts Creek, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 Season

That's what I thought too Sandra, way too early, but wasn't sure. I seem to remember someone flew a drone over this nest a couple of years ago and shortly after one of the eaglets was found dead on the ground a ways from the nest. Though it wasn't connected at the time I wonder if it was. I hope a d...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I haven't been by the nest for a while but decided to swing by today after walking our dog at Bonniebrook. Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

I find the hill a bit hard to walk up and down with the camera too Sandra, especially as it get tends to get rougher inbetween gradings and the vehicles going up and down create ruts and divits, lots of small rocks on the road make it quite easy to slip too. Fortunately I only had to go a little way...

I must just hit it lucky sometimes when I'm by that way Sandra, stopped by and checked the nest a couple of days ago (Friday) and again could see an adult in the nest. Pictures were taken from the down side, just past the large pullout / parking area, looking towards the nest tree. I did go onto the...
