Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I haven't been by the nest for a while but decided to swing by today after walking our dog at Bonniebrook. When I arrived was happy to see an adult (pa ?) in the perch tree beside the nest tree and could also see the bobbing up and down of a white head in the nest. Feeding chicks maybe ? I waited a ...

Oh no, so sorry to read that the nest is difficult for you to see now Marg. I don't comment much on this thread but do check in every so often to see how things are going so will miss your pictures.

Re: Reservoir Rd Nest, Sechelt BC 2019-2020 SEASON!

I find the hill a bit hard to walk up and down with the camera too Sandra, especially as it get tends to get rougher inbetween gradings and the vehicles going up and down create ruts and divits, lots of small rocks on the road make it quite easy to slip too. Fortunately I only had to go a little way...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

Just happened to arrive at the nest at the right time on Monday, May 4th to see a shift change. Heard lots of calling as I parked and as soon as I got out of the vehicle saw the adult in the nest calling and stretching their wings, almost immediately he/she flew out of the nest. I then noticed the s...

Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2019-2020

What a great visit and pictures Sandra! I stopped in on April 16th and didn't see as much active at the nest though did find both adults at home, one even took a couple of swoops in at the ducks at the Marsh while I was there causing quite the commotion. Along with the regular gang, Mallards and Can...

Re: Larson Rd nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I just caught a glimpse of the back of an adult in the nest when I stopped by briefly on Friday (April 17th), I was able to get a couple of quick pictures before he/she disappeared from sight into the front of the nest. No one in the perch tree but could hear a Merlin chattering away in the distance...

Re: Chaster Beach Eagle Nest on the Strait of Georgia, Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast 2019-2020

I must just hit it lucky sometimes when I'm by that way Sandra, stopped by and checked the nest a couple of days ago (Friday) and again could see an adult in the nest. Pictures were taken from the down side, just past the large pullout / parking area, looking towards the nest tree. I did go onto the...

Good point about the juvenile being so close, I hadn't thought of that. There wasn't even any attempt by the adult to chase it off or any calling. Hopefully we see or hear something as the season goes on re if they have a new nest somewhere.

I was by the area yesterday and though I couldn't see a nest I did see an immature eagle perched in one of the trees close to the 'old' nest tree who flew off when I parked, and an adult p...

I had a hard time trying to see if there was anyone in the nest when I recently stopped by too, the same thing happened yesterday. I kept looking from different angles at the top of the road and wasn't sure if what I was seeing was whitish feathers or a reflection off a pale branch in the nest. I to...

I stopped by the nest yesterday and it was very noisy, I don't know what happened just before I arrived but both adults were in the nest and started calling and calling, at the same time a Merlin (or maybe two) was chattering constantly. Between the eagles and the Merlin(s) it was very loud. I could...

Thanks so much Judy and Sandra! I stopped by the nest on March 17th and at first noticed an adult in the nest, seemingly to be looking out and waiting. For what ? A few minutes later, the other adult flew in with a stick! After the stick was placed they just hung out in the nest, so I left. But, gre...
