Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

No confrontation when the new arrival one lands - I suspect this is either a pair or a potential pair. I'm also thinking that the new arrival also has less white on the forehead than the first osprey, though it takes time (at least for me) to recognize the patterns enough to know who is who. 2024051...

Had to add this - their wings amaze me!

Hard to be sure, but this one seems to me to have less white on the forehead than the first one.

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

I forgot to thank you for the pictures from the ground, CC - it's great to get a different perspective on the nest! The first osprey was joined by a crow who perched briefly on a support to the right side of the screen, and that didn't seem to upset the osprey. This is the best image I was able to g...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

Great pictures - thanks, CC! My only (or maybe primary) concern about them building a nest on top of the nest structure is that I have no clue how much weight the cam supports can hold. I expect a first-year osprey nest doesn't get close to the ton that an established eagle nest could weigh - and I ...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

MONDAY, MAY 13, 2024 11:54 am I haven't seen any osprey visits during my quick checks of the dvr today, but have seen several visits by this bird, which definitely is not an osprey or an eagle - or even a crow! There are two large birds flying in the background of the first pic, but they didn't com...

Re: Live Tracking - Recent Check-In Dates

Note - I didn't finish this until May 13, but am staying with the May 3 dates since we haven't heard from any of the eagles marked as off the grid since mid-April or earlier. UPDATE - May 3 2024 - Eleven of the 19 eagles we're currently tracking have checked in within the last 10 days; TERF26/Annie...

Cu stream is frozen . Just reported it.
Thanks, DDuckies - I just sent a message to Michael and Ken about WR CU and the other three streams that are frozen.

If the cam has to freeze, I like that it did it with a nice picture of Whiskey and Xray!

Thanks, Ryan - I've sent an email to Michael and Ken about that and the three other streams that are down.

I did like the fact that the cam froze with a cute picture of SR9!

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors

White rock Cu stream frozen.. :bye 1: Thanks, DDuckies! I just sent the following message to Michael and Ken: The following streams froze around 5:29-5:30 pm; the cams were OK when I logged in directly: Harrison Mills South Surrey Reserve North White Rock West/CloseUp Delta 2 East The rest of the s...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

Around 10:20 am, the osprey moved back to the right end of the perches (from the cam view) 20240513_012.jpg And then flew off, appearing to head off to the right at the far end of the parking lot, though that may have been the start of a circle - they blend in well as they get smaller. 20240513_013....

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

I didn't see a fish being carried while the osprey was circling around - but the angle wasn't great. I did notice that the osprey spent some time feaking/cleaning his/her beak - which suggests that there was food. 20240513_009.jpg Picture of the pattern on the head for potential ID purposes: 2024051...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion

SUNDAY, MAY 12, 2024 From the dvr - we had a visit from an osprey around 10 am. Around 9:53 am I saw an osprey make several circuits around the nest area (and I can't be sure that it was only one flying). Here's a picture of one doing a fly-over (upper left corner): 20240513_014.jpg I think the osp...

continuing.... The second resident adult landed on the edge of the nest a moment later, and the two of them were very vocal in explaining that this was their nest. 20240513_004.jpg Switching to the Wide Angle cam, here's an eagle coming in from the perch tree - couldn't see a white tail, but it seem...

Re: WHITE ROCK 2023~2024 Observation & Discussion

7:13 am I'm not completely sure what was going on here, but definitely more than two adults near the nest. One of the adults had been on the nest with the chicks and flew off, then returned calling loudly. 20240513_001.jpg A second adult appeared at the edge of the nest.... 20240513_002.jpg And thou...
