Thanks, Rose - the cams can definitely do strange things at times!

Re: Boundary Bay Central 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
12:23 pm Just noticed both streams seem to be down. Both cams were streaming when I logged in directly, but South is zoomed in on a corner of the nest - not sure if that's intentional or if it shook loose - it looks very windy there today. I see you're online, Rose, so I'll report that the streams a...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
3:39 pm The Mission East stream is lagging behind real time and freezing from time to time. I sent a message to Michael and he said he'd tried refreshing the feed to YouTube once and it didn't help, and since there will be work done on the system there tomorrow, he's recommending letting it go until...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
12 noon Love the picture of Mount Baker - thanks, CC! And nice to see an eagle with this cam, even at a distance! I just checked the dvr and saw a few black birds but no osprey. Notice - internet provider Telus is scheduled to do some work at the site tomorrow, May 16, between 8 and 10 am. The cams ...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
No confrontation when the new arrival one lands - I suspect this is either a pair or a potential pair. I'm also thinking that the new arrival also has less white on the forehead than the first osprey, though it takes time (at least for me) to recognize the patterns enough to know who is who. 2024051...

Had to add this - their wings amaze me!
Hard to be sure, but this one seems to me to have less white on the forehead than the first one.
Second osprey turns to face an osprey flying in from the lower left:

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
I forgot to thank you for the pictures from the ground, CC - it's great to get a different perspective on the nest! The first osprey was joined by a crow who perched briefly on a support to the right side of the screen, and that didn't seem to upset the osprey. This is the best image I was able to g...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
Great pictures - thanks, CC! My only (or maybe primary) concern about them building a nest on top of the nest structure is that I have no clue how much weight the cam supports can hold. I expect a first-year osprey nest doesn't get close to the ton that an established eagle nest could weigh - and I ...

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
MONDAY, MAY 13, 2024 11:54 am I haven't seen any osprey visits during my quick checks of the dvr today, but have seen several visits by this bird, which definitely is not an osprey or an eagle - or even a crow! There are two large birds flying in the background of the first pic, but they didn't com...

Re: Live Tracking - Recent Check-In Dates
Note - I didn't finish this until May 13, but am staying with the May 3 dates since we haven't heard from any of the eagles marked as off the grid since mid-April or earlier. UPDATE - May 3 2024 - Eleven of the 19 eagles we're currently tracking have checked in within the last 10 days; TERF26/Annie...

White rock Cu stream frozen.. :bye 1: Thanks, DDuckies! Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
Around 10:20 am, the osprey moved back to the right end of the perches (from the cam view) 20240513_012.jpg And then flew off, appearing to head off to the right at the far end of the parking lot, though that may have been the start of a circle - they blend in well as they get smaller. 20240513_013....

Re: Mission Harbour Dyke 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
I didn't see a fish being carried while the osprey was circling around - but the angle wasn't great. I did notice that the osprey spent some time feaking/cleaning his/her beak - which suggests that there was food. 20240513_009.jpg Picture of the pattern on the head for potential ID purposes: 2024051...
