Re: Coopers Green Bald Eagles, Halfmoon Bay, Sunshine Coast, BC 2019-2020

I recently heard from Sandra of an eaglet that had fallen from a nest in Coopers Green. :( Luckily the eaglet was rescued and s/he is now recovering at OWL . I am trying to find out a bit more information on whether it is this nest, what happened and whether the nest and any other eaglets survived. ...

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2021 season

The last few days I have seen only been seeing 1 eaglet. I hope I'm just seeing them one at a time and the other is sleeping peacefully on the other side of the nest - fingers crossed! They both looked big and healthy last time I saw 2 at the same time. And today was the first time I saw an eaglet w...

Re: Browning Rd/Paul Beach Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast BC - 2019/2021 seasons

I visited yesterday (June 10) and saw one and maybe even 2 brown heads peeking over the top of the nest. No adults visible when I arrived but a juvenile flew over and suddenly both adults appeared flying in from opposite directions. They steered they juvenile away and then one adult stayed perched a...

Re: Camp Olave Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast BC - 2019/2021 seasons

I visited yesterday (June 10) and saw 2 quite large and healthy looking eaglets waiting for breakfast! :) Ma and Pa were both perched nearby on the lookout for any opportunity. Ma went fishing and caught a fish which she promptly delivered to the nest. I couldn't quite make out if the fish was share...

Re: Henderson Bald Eagles, Roberts Creek, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2021 Season

I visited the OIave nest on May 8 and when I looked across to the Henderson nest I could see 2 adults perched nearby on different trees near the nest tree. Hopefully this means Ma and Pa have some eaglets to take care of :luck:

Re: Camp Olave Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast BC - 2019/2021 seasons

I visited on May 8 and saw one adult in the nest and the other further down the beach on a favourite perch tree. No eaglets visible or audible in the nest but with both adults around, hopefully they have at least 1 little fluffy eaglet! :luck:

Re: Reception Point Bald Eagles, Halfmoon Bay Sunshine Coast BC, 2021

Thanks Marg! :) I visited the nest last Saturday (May 29) and all looked very quiet at the nest. Its quite a walk along the beach so I was there for a while and didn't see or hear any activity at the nest the whole time. A juvenile flew along the beach and past quite close to the nest but no adults ...

I visited the OIave nest On Apr 10 and as usual looked across to the Henderson nest. I could see one adult perched at the top of one of their favourite trees near the nest tree. SO Ma and Pa are sticking around the area. Still keeping my fingers crossed for this season. :luck: A long distance pic to...

Re: Porpoise Bay nest, Inlet Rd. Sechelt BC beside the Blue Heron sign, Sunshine Coast BC 2018-2021

I visited the Garden Centre last weekend and took a peek at the nest from the parking lot. No obvious activity in the area but the nest looked good and solid. Looking at the pics on the back of my camera, maybe a suspicion of a fuzzy head just visible over the top of the nest but I will get a better...

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2021 season

Both eaglets still doing well. :D I got a good view of them a few days ago and they looked pretty close in size so fingers crossed that they can both hold their own when competing for food. Some years the eaglets are quite noisy but this year I barely hear them at all - hopefully that means that the...

Re: Coopers Green Bald Eagles, Halfmoon Bay, Sunshine Coast, BC 2019-2020

I visited last Sat (May 29) and initially was disappointed as the nest looked pretty rough, collapsed over on one side and I thought that no-one could possibly be using it! Well I was very wrong! I was just about to leave when I saw 2 spindly little fluffy grey wings stretching up and just a glimpse...

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2021 season

All seems to be going well so far this month. I have seen some food drops and 2 fuzzy heads so looks like we have 2 eaglets in the nest! :woohoo: Fingers crossed both make it through to fledging. I saw 2 fuzzy eaglets last season but only 1 fledged so I'm hoping both fledge this season. :luck:

Re: Browning Rd/Paul Beach Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast BC - 2019/2021 seasons

I visited on Sat (Apr 10) and could just see the very top of an adults head in the nest so they appear to be incubating! :) After last seasons nest collapse the rebuild has been a bit more towards the beach side so it may not be as easy to see into the nest this year. From further down the beach I d...

Re: Reception Point Bald Eagles, Halfmoon Bay Sunshine Coast BC, 2021

I visited the nest on Mar 13 and saw that there was some fresh greenery on top of the nest so Ma and Pa seem to be getting prepared for the nesting season! I visited last Saturday (Mar 27) and was there when an adult brought a stick into the nest. In fact the adult broke the stick off a tree right over my head which gave me quite a surprise. The adult, I think Pa, delivered the stick to the nest where it was arranged by Ma who was already in the nest. ...

So far in March I've seen mating a couple of times and lots of visits to the nest. Not sure if there is an egg yet but it can't be too far away. :)

I have some pics and will post once I have uploaded them
