Re: East Porpoise Bay Rd, Sechelt BC Eagles' Nest, by the Blue Heron sign, Sunshine Coast BC 2018-2020

That definitely looks like feeding Sandra - good news! :) We were up at the Deluxe Garden Centre yesterday and as we parked by OK Tire I noticed the great view of the nest from that spot. Its still quite a way but what a great eye level view. With good binos or a telephoto lens thats a great locatio...

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 season

Thanks Sandra! I always look for Miller too but the juveniles don't ever seem to fly low enough to look for a band :( Yes, please pass along to David if you think he would be interested. Some good news today as we saw Ma feeding a bobble head just visible above the edge of the nest . I took some pic...

On May 2, a juvenile visited just before sunset. Then at sunset Pa perched watching over the nest while Ma fed the eaglets below! Such a beautiful scene :)

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 season

On April 1 one of the adults obviously had an itch that wouldn't wait. :D It just shows how totally comfortable they are in the air. Just a total no-brainer to be scratching behind your ear while you are flying 100m above the ground HWF_Field_20200401_8277.jpg HWF_Field_20200401_8279.jpg HWF_Field_2...

On Mar 24 a flyby from I think Ma Ma with what looked like a full crop. I was interested to see her unusual talon. This looks really similar to the talon I noted in this post from last season https://forum.hancockwildlife.org/viewtopic.php?p=183611#p183611 Though in that post I thought it might be P...

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 season

With the nest in a different tree we now seem to be on one of the flight paths into the nest. The eagles quite often fly right over our house to get to the nest. Hopefully once they start feeding eaglets they don't accidentally drop something :D Some pics from Mar 17 and Mar 19 HWF_Field_20200319_64...

Re: Browning Rd/Paul Beach Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast BC - 2019/2020 season

I am very late posting this but I did get to the nest on Mar 26 and all was quiet. I could just see a teeny bit of a white head peeking out over the top of the nest so looks like an adult was sitting. :) I hope to get there over the long weekend so hoping to see some evidence of eaglets by now. :luck:

I am very late posting this but I did get to the nest on Mar 26 and saw one adult I think Pa flying in from the ocean looking very handsome! Re: Marsh Nest, Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast BC 2019-2020

I was walking around the marsh this morning and heard an eagle calling from inside the nest and another from a tree closer to the road. I couldn't see either of them but I heard the calls from the nest a few times while I was there.

Maybe somebody is incubating?!?! :luck: :luck: :luck:

On Dec 22 after some a few days of some big rainstorms 1 adult was drying off on the favourite tree. I yjink s/he must have flown off without me noticing as a few minutes later an adult flew over and headed back to the same spot

Then I think someone at the far side threw out some fish trimmings as the eagle flew back ober there and brought something back and started to eat on the rock.....watched by some very interested neighbours.

Re: Sargeant Bay Bald Eagles, Halfmoon Bay Sunshine Coast, BC 2018-2020

Lots of activity on Nov 24. I adult was sitting in a tree in the middle of the marsh. I;m not sure if s/he was hunting or looking for branches for the nest. S/he then flew off to the trees at the far side of the marsh. After a few moments there s/he flew over to the far side of the bay before circli...

On Jan 15 there was a dispute between 2 adults near the nest tree. I actually saw them almost lock talons as they swirled and whirled. I wasn't fast enough to get any pics of that but I do have some of them giving each other stink eye from adjoining branches. After a few minutes one flew off away fr...

On Dec 25 we had a visit from a lost domestic duck which definitely caught the attention of one of the adults.

The duck was reunited with its owners so the eagles missed out on their duck dinner!

Re: Field Rd Bald Eagles, Sunshine Coast, BC - 2019/2020 season

On Nov 25 Ma (I think) was looking for some extra branches for their nest and was sitting quite low in a tree. After looking very intently at several branches she snapped one off and flew off towards the nest. The last pic is of the nest later that day... I guess with at least one more stick!
